ofc one fun thing would be to turn it on its head, having the gang/order/hird whatever be a cyberpunk77-esqe gang of sorts, with fancy cybernetics

the problem with that idea, while cool and good, with many potential threads to depict, was that it felt more like the *end point* of a story than anything else, the idea of a more settled life as opposed to the more traditional roaming raider.

but the idea itself i think is sound

so you had some gangs/militias/orders whatever that were more organized and some that were less, with shaki and irma's being inspired by the varangians, naturally, but primarily the normal hird structure of northern europe

i suppose the end result would be like an order in itself, yeah

before i settled on the idea of shaki as a wandering berserker, another idea was much more urban, based in this decaying rome-constantinople-berlin expy, where the whole society was just going down the shitter

the main protectors of the city were, in effect borderline gangs, fighting all the time

i cant say i havent pondered on it, or done it myself!!!

once my studies are done i hope to finally get some propa writin done for my fishes
