We're looking forward to seeing our trainees online on Wednesday. They'll be engaging with some academic reading, have a choice of sessions honing in on different parts of their PGCE assignment, and finishing with an exciting session from Jayne Webster about representations in maths #MathsToday
The last one of these was excellent. Well-worth signing up for #MathsToday
If you ever fancy filming (or just talking about!) how you do a one slide wonder lesson I know a load of novice teachers that would love to see itβ¦.
I am obsessed with the simplicity of this ππ

I think it's quite slick and could be a great time-saver for exit tickets/topic tests etc

Happy to hear feedback on it! Think I have worked out the major kinks.
Yes youβre right that is nice, year 12 core pure is lovely, with minimal prerequisites. I think my ideal would be a further maths class that was timetabled altogether for all maths and further maths lessons and then you can play about it with impunity π€£
Very jealous of this set up! Always had to teach them in parallel and the curriculum negotiations are tough! I used to teach Y13 normal maths differentiation and integration at the end of Y12 FM as otherwise Y13 FM content is essentially inaccessible π€ͺ
Love the descriptions of these π€£

GCSE maths anxiety is rising, and teachers are feeling the pressure too. Maths Revolution shares simple, steady approaches that help students build confidence and stick with it. A reassuring read for anyone teaching GCSE this term.

Sharing this with some of our Teach First ECTs on Thursday as part of a twilight seminar on year 11 exam preparation π
It also reminded me about all the other great things on your GCSE tab π

Was great to see our Y1s at training days in Birmingham, Leeds & London last week. We loved hearing how you're getting on in school and geeking out on some maths with you all. Trainees also got thinking about their next steps in their practitioner research for their PGCE assignment #MathsToday

A double number line with the 1 and 7 times table and a series of 'fill the blank' questions such as 21 x ? = 35.
Used a double number line in #MathsToday to help pupils get to grips with going from one number to another using multiplication.

Over the next three days, we'll be welcoming over 200 trainees to their second in-person training day. Theyβll be taking a deep dive into the topic of graphs, thinking about how they engage with research and developing their criticality ready for that PGCE write-up! #MathsToday
A friend of mine has just launched this website that I think is pretty great for generating quick starters for A-Level maths and he has started adding some questions for Further Maths too.
