Libraries Are for Everyone: Invest in Libraries New York City's public libraries offer vital support to all, regardless of background, income, birthplace, or beliefs.

Someone showed me some clueless commentary from people on Reddit about the library funding issue. Let me say that 'the NYPL spokesperson seems confident that something will work out' is child-like thinking.

10 rules of resistance for #ICEOut Americans can learn from the anti-Nazi leaflet “10 Commandments for Danes” by denying ICE everything it needs to function.

“It is time for all Americans — citizens and residents, political leaders and neighbors, left, right, center and independent — to take a clear and unequivocal stand [against ICE]. It is unconscionable to allow this to continue.”— @riverasun.bsky.social for @wagingnonviolence.org

"Minnesota is deeply grounded in the values of community, compassion, dignity, and solidarity. The violent actions of federal agents have had profound effects on families and communities across our city and state, creating an environment of chaos, fear, and disruption in our neighborhoods. This federal operation has made life difficult for many residents to shop for groceries, go to work, take their children to school, or keep their small businesses open. When residents are brutalized and profiled, families are torn apart, and children are arrested, our communities are not any safer. We continue to demand that ICE, and all federal agents leave our state immediately. Minnesotans have a long tradition of activism, protest, and civic engagement during significant inflection moments in our state. A broad coalition of labor organizations, faith communities, community-based organizations, students, small businesses, and workers have called for a statewide Day of Truth and Freedom as a time for solidarity, community, mutual aid, and protest. The Minneapolis City Council fully supports this action as a time to exercise your constitutional rights, to express support for our neighbors, and demand the end of this federal occupation. We acknowledge and respect the diverse ways individuals, families, essential workers, students, and businesses may choose to observe this day and support our community.
Together, with our community, the City Council reaffirms our commitment to civic expression, community safety, and our immigrant neighbors. We will continue the work of ensuring justice, freedom, and dignity for all during and beyond this occupation."

Trump's "board of peace" seems mainly like a post-presidency grift for the trump family - yes a way to usurp the UN but also to keep monetizing the presidency out of office.

Not unlike the Clinton Global Initiative, I'm afraid. But with more private $$ to the family and less do-gooder veneer.

Immigration officers assert sweeping power to enter homes without a judge's warrant, memo says An Immigration and Customs Enforcement memo obtained by The Associated Press reveals that the agency allows immigration officers to forcibly enter homes to make arrests without a judicial warrant.

Federal agents going door to door, forcing entry, and detaining people without judge-signed warrants is a grotesque abuse of power and violation of the 4th amendment.

That’s not law enforcement. It’s a secret police force.

ICE detains 4 Minnesota students, including 5-year-old, school district says Vice President JD Vance, who is in Minneapolis, spoke about the incident, asking "Well, what are they supposed to do? Are they supposed to let a 5-year-old child freeze to death?"

Heartbreaking. Horrifying. And Unacceptable. No child should be treated this way. No parent should have to endure this.

Our schools are sacred community spaces, where every child can learn and belong.

Tell Congress: No ICE in our schools! ⬇️

House approves spending bills despite many Democrats' objections to ICE funds The House has approved the final set of spending bills to avoid a government shutdown, despite objections from Democrats to the funding levels set for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Pouring more money into DHS while it operates with impunity and a blatant disregard for human life is unconscionable.

You don’t fix abuse by funding it. You stop it by cutting off its funding and dismantling the institution that’s terrorizing communities.
