My father was in the Brixham first XV and they were playing a few games in Wales. At one club the chairman introduced them to his teenaged son. "This is Tom, he sings a bit. I think he's going to do well."

Solstice Acoustic - 'A New Day' feat Alberto Bravin
YouTube video by Solstice
Having been very impressed by Solstice's acoustic set in support of @bigbigtrain.bsky.social in Southampton recently I have just booked to see them in London in April.
Here is video from the Southampton show where Alberto Bravin joined them for a song.

The truth is, we don’t know what multi-band compression or linear phase eq do to people long term. There’s no information! So that’s why my kids only listen to unmastered music. It just feels safer that way.

Star magnolia tree covered in white flowers.
The sun has cut through the fog for the first time in several days. Our star magnolia is in full flower to welcome it. #spring

Glenn went on to lead the house band at the Shiphay Manor Club in Torquay, we used to go there occasionally in the 70s.

I think is ex BBT violinist Rachel Hall playing one of the violins. I saw them at couple of years later by which time she had been replaces by current BBT violinist Clare Lindley.
What goes around!

Fripp hits the nail on the head. The Melotron sounds don't sound like the actual instruments, and that's the attraction.
I think at times, he put a 'tron through a rotary speaker. I could be wrong but it would explain some of the chorusing.

Well, earlier today I booked a ticket for @theemeralddawn.bsky.social at Tavistock this coming Sunday, and now I have just received an email saying its been postponed until July.
Probably people like me not booking until the last minute, 🫢 while trying to persuade some friends to come too

Good find. I think Blue was an excellent replacement for Rick Wakeman in the Strawbs and I think his style fitted the band better.

Gothic church in Dorchester.
Stopping for lunch and a break on my journey home from Southampton. BBT's Woodcut provided the soundtrack for the first half of my journey. "The drum beat strains of the night remain in the rhythm of a brand new day "

Solstice on stage in the 1865, Southampton.
Ross Jennings on stage at the 1865 Southampton.
Solstice (acoustic) and Ross Jennings were the high quality support acts for tonight's BBT concert. And yes that is Alberto Bravin joining Solstice on one of their songs.

A non obligatory post gig photo.
@bigbigtrain.bsky.social in Southampton. You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.
What a fantastic evening, the support acts were top notch too.

Did you get in before Ross Jennings started? The queue for the toilets in the interval was epic too.

Not exactly the obligatory pre gig photo, rather one between support acts. Big Big Train at the 1865 Southampton.

I am off to see Big Big Train in Southampton tonight.
I had intended to travel by train but there is a bus replacement service and an insane two hours waiting for various connections so I am driving.
