oh yeah the vpn issue is because java just goes "hey look at this ipv4 address. it's actually an ipv6 address!" and doesnt use them properly. forcing it to run in ipv4 mode worked. maybe i delete all plugins

was actually an issue with some plugin hub plugin (that was NOT logging) fiddling with the cache (where jagex thinks it's a great idea to store client settings) and not being able to connect to something through a vpn (??) and dumping blank values in the cache. obviously!

ok played on jagex launcher and it fixed it, guess it was a cache issue
