My roof, which I didn't clear, was relatively easy to deal with. Once I cracked the crust of ice, it was fluffy snow underneath. My windshield? It's just been 3" of solid ice on top of the glass. Even with defrost on, slowly breaking little pieces of ice off has been harrowing.
If it's validating: I think you're right! I'm one of those DC residents who dutifully got the snow off my car, or at least my windows and the basics, that first morning before the sleet came, hearing it would save me work later. Mistake! Now my car's a science project...
I'd be curious to see what's happening with trans people's name choices over there. I have anecdata about earnest trans dudes with Irish heritage here in the states... Big increase in the use of fadas!
