Iβve read most of her works by now and I absolutely love her. Hope you enjoy!

Itβs so good! Her writing is always so smart and nuanced!

I am standing naked in my living room with one foot on the couch facing away from the camera. I am holding my iPad displaying the cover of Zadie Smithβs Dead and Alive.
"the more precisely youβ¦understand the past the less likely you are to misread and vulgarize and misapprehend the present. The narcissism of the present is that it wants the past to conform to its present demands. You can't learn the lessons of the past if you rewrite them in the retelling."
The Book of Jacob was such a wild ride. Took me all summer reading it I think lol
Me too! Iβd read whatever weird thing she publishes. And thanks! I figured I couldnβt not take a photo with the light coming through the layer of ice on the windows π
I loved this #novel If you were to describe it in one word, I would say βintimateβ. A story about a mother and son, both a little broken by the other. Beautifully written, I loved the things that werenβt said, the distance between them, a navigation between nostalgia and self care. Highly recommend.
Iβve had Modern Nature sitting on my shelf for ages. I need to read him!
One of my favourite books from one of my favourite filmmakers, Derek Jarman (The Last of England). #menreading #gayreader #gaywriter #readnaked #derekjarman #kickingthepricks With a nod to @thenakedreader.bsky.social and @bodieswithbooks.bsky.social for keeping me on top of my reading game.

So great! Nobody does it quite like her.
I am standing naked in my living room holding a copy of Olga Tokarczukβs House of Day, House of Night (translated by Antonia Lloyd-Jones) in my right hand. The balcony window that is frosted over is to my left. The sun shining through the layer of ice casts a ripply glow on my upper body.
βYour memory creates postcard images, but it doesn't really comprehend the world at all. That's why a landscape is so affected by the mood of the person looking at it. In it a person sees his own inner, transitory moments. Wherever he looks, he sees nothing but himself.β
Happy Friday!

Pantomime, a Just Us: Clementine origin story is now LIVE!
PLEASE check it out when you get a chance! Itβs only a 6 minute read and I worked really hard on it! Iβd really appreciate any likes or shares if youβre so inclined!
I really hope you enjoy it! π

I did this on Instagram, and after @bodieswithbooks.bsky.social hinted thereβs interest here, letβs start. Might also make me read!
Really enjoyed this one by @whusseyauthor.bsky.social; the sequels are on my list.
Mighty craic!
A screenshot of Jonathan Swiftβs A Modest Proposal on the Libby app under the category of 2SLGBTQ+ stories.
My library has a satirical essay about poor Irish people selling their children as food for the rich under 2SLGBTQ+ stories. Who snitched about the real gay agenda?!
Iβm standing naked in my study in front of the bookshelf and chair. Iβm holding up my iPad displaying a copy of Ana Paula Maiaβs On Earth As It Is Beneath (translated by Padma Viswanathan).
Itβs because of books like these that I love the International Booker Prize so much. Iβd probably never pick this up, and what a loss that wouldβve been! A succinct & cinematic sociological thriller I read in one go, this is Brazilβs counterpart to Cormac McCarthy. A great start to the longlist!
Five women authors by whom Iβve read at least five books:
- Toni Morrison
- Jhumpa Lahiri
- Zadie Smith
- Maya Angelou
- Jane Austen
I kinda hope some maga type comes across that list, hits subscribes, and ends up following a bunch of naked queers lol
Happened to me as well! Seems like these trolls are trying to get us to block each other.
Absolutely! Iβm turning 40 later this year and I canβt look the way I did in my 20s and early 30s no matter how hard I try (who with a full time job has the time & energy?!). I keep telling myself that itβs a privilege to age and some days it makes more sense than others lol
Injuring myself because Iβm feeling insecure about the way I look, then there has to be a better way because running that extra km or lifting that extra set isnβt going to actually change anything in the long run π€·ββοΈ (pun intended)
Like the character in this graphic novel, I think I also have the tendency to use running as a coping mechanism for other things. I think itβs so important to directly address specific issues and think about why youβre doing the exercise. For health? Great! To look good naked? Also great! But if Iβm
I am lying naked in bed with the duvet up to my knees. A copy of Lee Laiβs Cannon is lying next to me.
βAnd running allows our bodies to feel like weβre getting away from that metaphorical lion thatβs chasing us, right? But then weβre running so much that our body starts breaking down, it really begs the question - what are we going to do about that metaphorical lion?β
Queer YA fiction is really making some points, y'all. #readingisfundamental #readingwhilenaked #camp @gayreader.bsky.social @otterreadz.bsky.social @thenakedreader.bsky.social @bigdickbookclub.bsky.social @bodieswithbooks.bsky.social
Love!
A nod to @thenakedreader.bsky.social with βHe did not Conquerβ about Benjamin Franklinβs push, and failure to annex Canada. I do love a little history and nudity so why not combine the two. Please note the faux fur throw which I thought was in keeping with the theme of colonial Canada π€
On my way! βοΈ
I hope you like it as much as I did!
