So the original idea is that Zeta is from a different world and moves using portals, so I wanted to convey what it'd be like if he got infected in the IDW verse and he were to somehow go back to his own world. I wanted to drive the point home with a portal (you can tell I was watching a lot of Rick and Morty back then, lol) and also to show Zeta's glasses crushed under his hand, to show he didn't need them to find someone to infect! For this original piece I was trying out detailed shading for the first time, you can tell I was just starting becuase it's all just one big shade of black without taking actual color into account, lol. Also you can tell I was still working off the rust, I had gotten back to making art in late 2018 and I was trying to find my groove again, I was scared of doing complicated poses, and... I was still doing the big round heads thing many rookie artists would do, lol, that's why Zeta's head looks so big. For an early effort... I'd say this looks decent enough!

For this remake, I wanted to apply a lot of what I've learned over the years, both with the shading, lighting and ofc the poses. This time around Zeta is in Eggman's faceship, and he was looking at his hand just as the infection finally overtook him. Now that I'm a bit more confident with poses and body language, I can finally have him crushing his own glasses, this time in a vain attempt to make himself less dangerous as he's blind without them, but I doubt the virus would be affected by it. This time I also wanted the background to match the creepy ambiance, it's dusk, the faceship looks dark because those working on it got accidentally infected, so I wanted to convey how dire it all looks. All in all, I am quite happy with the results!

Since I'm on the remaking old art train and I recently re-read the Metal Virus saga from the Sonic IDW comic, I wanted to revisit an early art of my doggo!
