I'm so relieved.
His ketones were good today, too!
Hi, #Minterland!
Good Jonesy the Bean news!
His ketones were stable! He can stay on the meds!
He'll still have to go in and get another ketone check + a fructose check in 2 weeks, but otherwise, his vet said he could stay on this medicine!
Hey, #Minterland:
Jonesyβs ketones were .6 again.
Gonna get a call from the vet in around 2 hours when she comes in.
Hoping we can keep him on this liquid medicine.
Hi, #Minterland:
It was a hectic week, but Jonesy's last ketone check showed his levels had decreased. We're going in again tomorrow!
This is so cool! :O
This looks GORGEOUS. Wowza!

Hi, #Minterland:
Jonesyβs ketones were elevated, but they think itβs cause I wasnβt feeding him more than a can of wet food a day. They want me to supplement free feed him dry right now until Tuesday, at which point weβll check ketones again.
Also, a huge thank you to everyone who has donated and spread the word. It means a lot to me.
Jonesy goes in tomorrow to see about his ketones. Send us all the good vibes you can! π§‘π§‘π§‘
Hey, #Minterland:
Send my Jonesy boy some good juju. Tomorrow we see the vet to check ketones, and that will determine if he can continue on the oral liquid meds (preferable) or if he will need insulin.
We go in around 2:30 MST.
Also, thank you all for the GoFundMe support. It means the world π§‘
Here's hoping the medicine and food he's on will prevent me from needing insulin. But thank you for the reassurance! <3
We're on an oral liquid right now. I'm hoping that is the solution, rather than shots. <3
And thank you! I appreciate you so much!
I'm hoping the meds will lower his ketones so we can avoid insulin. The idea scares me (I know I could figure it out, but you get me there). :(
Will do! <3
Thank you for sharing this, Shannon, and for your donation. It means a lot to us!
Thank you, Robin. That means a lot to me and to Jonesy <3 (He's sitting right beside me right now hehe)
Hi, #Minterland:
I went ahead and made a GoFundMe for Jonesy Beans' diabetes care, since the upfront costs are a bit much for me at present due to current finances. If anyone is able to chip in, I would appreciate it.
You can find the link at: gofund.me/8b5bb68c0
I mention the cost because it's a bit rough for me financially right now. If anyone can help, I would be truly grateful.
A picture of the happy Beansie
The bill ran to $510, but he had a urinalysis, bloodwork, some fluids for his dehydration, and some anti-nausea medicine.
She said I cannot feed him and the girls together anymore due to the carbohydrates in the food I've been giving him, so we'll have to alternate feeding schedules from here on out.
So... yeah. That's not the BEST news, but preferable over cancer.
However, he is not to the point where he needs insulin. Per the vet's recommendation (due to the fact that his ketones are 0.7 out of a 1), we are starting him on an oral drug that lowers ketones, and will be stopping the free feeding in favor of diabetic food for him.
Hey, #Minterland. So, my update on Jonesy the Bean:
He does NOT have cancer (thank god).
He is, however, diabetic.
Keep my kitty boy in your thoughts, #Minterland. Weβre at the vet now, since heβs dropped down from 20 pounds in October to 14 today
:(
And before anyone asks: yes, that is his fur on my keyboard LOL
Hi, #Minterland:
Jonesy is my new secretary cat. He accepted payment in one plastic bottlecap.
Cute babies. <3
