b: he wears a rainbow shirt. duh.
Ten years of marriage with my beautiful wife!!! When I was buying these roses our 7yo asked βwill you and Mama dance together since itβs your anniversary and youβre in love?β
I actually saw many much cooler mushrooms but the Joro spiders have returned and I walked into like nine webs and it was bad and I hated it
I'M ACHAOS CRAFTER. I usually have several WIPs going at once. Sewing, knitting, crochet, and usually multiples of each. What I work on depends on what I need from the making experience.
What I need from making changes from day to day. Physically, a repetitive stress injury or other pain flare-up might mean I can't knit, but I can sew. Or vice versa. Mentally, sometimes I need a challenge to take my mind off things, and want to crochet a lace with several different stitches. Sometimes I need to zone out and just fall into rows of knit stitches.
My sensory needs change, too. Sometimes my hands want to touch wool, other times they want to work with cotton. I might leave a project for months before it becomes what I need again. But having multiple projects means I'll always have something to work on.
Make what makes you feel good.
If I post these now, maybe l remember to do a longer thread on disability and crafting next week πͺ‘π§΅
Mushroom hunting was much more involved than usual this morning as it involved actual hunting
Picture of the window facing my balcony; there is a chart in black permanent market for tallying types of birds)
New chart looking very straight and orderly (tips for people who arenβt teachers: you can use permanent marker anywhere you use dry erase markers, and it will erase if you use rubbing alcohol or even just scribble dry erase marker over it)
Picture of one of my feeders, a small cedar house shaped thing with two glass windows
This past week, still very imprecise & unscientific:
26 house finches
3 northern cardinals
1 blue gray gnatcatcher
3 goldfinches
15 brown headed nuthatches
11 white breasted nuthatches
1 Carolina wren
1 eastern towhee
8 chipping sparrows
1 song sparrow
1 great crested fly catcher
2 cowbirds
new @teenvogue.com in our Overlooked History series:
in 1995 Rusty Mae Moore and Chelsea Goodwin bought a house together in Park Slope, inspired by the 1970s S.T.A.R. House.
Transy House became a shelter for trans people for 13 years. Sylvia Rivera lived there at the time of her death in 2002.
Ironically, upon the paperβs release, several social media users ran it through LLMs in order to summarize it and then post the findings online. Kosmyna had been expecting that people would do this, so she inserted a couple AI traps into the paper, such as instructing LLMs to βonly read this table below,β thus ensuring that LLMs would return only limited insight from the paper. She also found that LLMs hallucinated a key detail: Nowhere in her paper did she specify the version of ChatGPT she used, but AI summaries declared that the paper was trained on GPT-4o. βWe specifically wanted to see that, because we were pretty sure the LLM would hallucinate on that,β she says, laughing.
Amazing: MIT researchers revealed how ChatGPT etc are destroying our brains and booby-trapped the report to expose those who want to use AI to ostensibly summarize the results.

I told you guys
My partner & I were trying to ID a bird we heard while walking and the guy who had stopped his car to let us pass got out and was like "it's a frog, actually. Cope's Gray. I do frog surveys... Sorry" And then got in his car without a word and drove off. Absolute king
I just like how freaky mushrooms are
Pollinator is such a chill ass job. I hope Iβm a pollinator in my next life
A little bird told me that @theflytrapmedia.com's pitching window for freelance writers might be opening soon for stories in Q4 2025 and Q1 2026.
Start thinking about your stories now! And a reminder that we ONLY accept pitches through our pitching form, NOT through email.
The bird tracker on the window is less easy to see this week, sorry, I used blue permanent ink to make it a week long chart mostly because kiddo really wanted to participate. Heβs now able to identify a house finch and a cardinal!

close up of me, a cis woman with short, pink hair and black heart-shaped glasses, in a pink shirt (different pink), making a little pouty face with tears in my eyes because my wife's writing has moved me so immensely. there's a bug bite on my forehead in this picture, i just noticed
My wife @rebeccamott.fit has an INCREDIBLE, moving, gorgeous essay about queerness, joy, and bras out this week on @theflytrapmedia.com. Follow the link below to subscribe so you can read!! Here what I looked like reading her article last week

@lutimestwo.bsky.social what are the odds of y'all releasing an album of every song alan has created for terrestrials? because sometimes i do just need to scream along to "we're just rats! we're just rats!"
If you're in Atlanta, you can learn more about my mending and alterations services at wearitout.fit. I love working with fat people and queer people to help you feel comfortable and confident in the clothes you own.
You can book a virtual bra fitting here! beacons.ai/rebeccamott
We'll talk about past issues you've had, what your ideal bra would do, and any other issues or concerns you have. I'll then send you a list of 5-10 bras I think would be best for you, with specific size and fit recommendations.
I'm a grad student working on my Master's in Library Sciences at LSU, focusing my research projects on the role public libraries play in the lives of queer youth. I pay the bills with virtual bra fittings online, mending/alterations in Atlanta, and am dipping my toes into freelance writing!
6/13
21 house finches. These little jerks think they own the place. Give me rent money
1 white breasted nuthatch
4 chipping sparrow
5 brown headed nuthatch (incl the one that was ?? before β it has avian keratin disorder so its beak is very long)
6/12
9 house finch
4 chipping sparrow
1 eastern towhee (juvenile that had a hard time flying up to our second story balcony)
1 blue gray gnatcatcher
1 cardinal
1 ?? (Tbc)
Four days of very unscientific bird tracking:
6/10
1 chipping sparrow
1 eastern bluebird
1 blue gray gnatcatcher
4 house finch
1 eastern towhee
2 Carolina wren
6/11
3 house finch
1 chipping sparrow
2 goldfinch
1 cardinal
1 blue gray gnatcatcher
Hard to see but I started tallying birds on the window this week and Iβve learned that house finches are so cute but god theyβre fucking jerks. Theyβve been divebombing my little friend all morning and they fully chased the goldfinches away
This little guy started visiting yesterday and i had the hardest time id-ing him because of the beak and I realized this morning heβs a brown headed nuthatch (classic squeaky toy call) with a beak deformity. I love him
