I saw him on the Silicon Messiah tour, first one after leaving Maiden, tiny venue, and he was fucking brilliant. That album is great. Miles better than Virtual XI, but so is herpes. Poor old Blaze, they done the boy wrong.

As we head into 2025, I'll be sharing 25 MEDICAL HISTORY OBJECTS starting with...

#1) 5,000-year-old prosthetic eye made of bitumen paste with lines radiating out from iris. Worn by a 6’ tall woman (possibly a priestess), found near the city of Zabol in Iran. The eye would have been painted gold.

A man handles a small tray with some lines of cocaine on it and says "leaving some nice lines out for 1976 David Bowie." The lines are placed in front of the chimney. Overnight the Thin White Duke himself emerges from the chimney. In the morning, the men check the tray to find it bare. One says "all the lines are gone!" Another says "He IS Real"

The Sylva Wood Centre in Oxfordshire is the national home of Sylva Foundation. Our office and buildings supporting design and making with home-grown wood are surrounded by a young woodland demonstrating resilient design, plus a community orchard and a reconstructed Anglo-Saxon house.

Sylva is now on Bluesky! We abandoned the other place long ago and have been waiting to jump aboard the next good platform, so here we are!
