I was about to say the same thing πππ». I mean, taste can be very subjective, and terms and conditions apply, but 1 is excellent and 2 is even better. Characters, concepts, wit - top notch.

Just reading @aptshadow.bsky.socialβs latest, βPretenders to the Throne of Godβ, having another βfuck me, thatβs goodβ moment, and thinking this is one of the most consistently excellent series Iβve read in years. So many series start strong, but then peter out, but this one is still roaring! πππππ
My head was in a different place first time, but this time round, it was like a healing balm. The remaining seasons are superb too.
(Tell me youβve seen Small Prophets too β¦ ?)
I was given the dvds as a gift some years back, and just bounced when I watched it. I found it too middle of the road.
But then a few weeks ago I gave it another go, and completely revised my opinion. The mischief, the magical realism, the characterisation, the bonkers jokes. Itβs a classic
I am so glad for you, Ian.
So tonight I had my first rehearsal with the Bradford Festival Choral Society, chucked in the deep end with the basses for Haydnβs Creation. Iβm glad I have a fairly good ear and can still read music relatively ok.
Reminds me of how much I enjoy singing!
Our long running Victorian steampunk game has been taking us to remote asteroids, Venusian dream cults, mad scientists using forbidden knowledge to resurrect loved ones, and a whole host of monsters from the id.

Well when itβs confirmed as the title of the next book in Danβs saga, weβll remember where we saw it first ππ₯°ππ»
Iβve never played the games - I only have a secondhand knowledge of what goes on - but you can tell they love the storytelling possibilities the setting provides.
It makes such a refreshing change to watch something with decent scriptwriters, so that the great cast has something to get their teeth into π
Happy new year to you too.
The obligatory board game photo. Playing supernatural horror game Betrayal Legacy with Dave, Liz, Giles and Dean.
It is 1729. Dave is an evil cult leader. My character has just feasted on his corpse with my familyβs ancestral marrow spoon.
This game is very fucked up. I like it π.
Oh of course. The asymmetry is lovely. Our last game was Glorantha: The Gods War, so it was also fun to compare and contrast. I donβt think I completely came to grips with my tactics for Nyarlathotep in time, but it was all great fun, and Iβm looking forward to our next go ππ
We are hoping to give it another play in a couple of months with some of the additional factions. This was our first go though, so we kept it to the basics πππ»
Really sorry to hear that.
Update - Deanthulhu wins π
Playing Cthulhu Wars with Tim, Jen and Dean. Big C has just appeared ππ€ͺ
A young Laurence Fox, far right activist and leader of Reclaim, playing a nazi sympathiser in wartime Britain, back in a 2003 episode of Foyleβs War. Uncanny prescience.
Currently watching Foyleβs War. Very good!
Season 2 episode 4 (War Games) casts Laurence Fox as a Nazi sympathiser in wartime Britain. Such a natural!
Filmed back in 2003, long before he became politically active on the far right.
I wonder what qualities the casting directors saw in him π?
My favourite grasshopper fact: Grasshoppers first appeared on the planet 250 million years ago.
Grass did not appear on the planet until 40 million years ago
Imagine it: 210 million years, hopping around on any random surface you can find, waiting for the grass that will make you truly yourself.
The common cormorant or shag,
Lays eggs inside a paper bag,
The reason you will see no doubt,
It is to keep the lightning out,
But what these unobservant birds,
Have never noticed is that herds,
Of wandering bears may come with buns,
And steal the bags to hold the crumbs.
Iβd never encountered that one before. Thank you πππ»
I hope you are / will be soon ok.
Not me. Tbh, I find it hard to understand why anyone might find them interesting. For me, everything about them so far has been pretty meh β¦ π€·πΌββοΈ
Iβm still adjusting too. I hope the job search and the surgery both go well, Matt π€¨ππππ
It really sucks how much vet bills amount to nowadays, and I hate to think how upset you must be from the worry. Have sent you a Ko-Fi tip.
Reading this has made my morning ππ

Finally got a chance to play Glorantha: The Gods War - a boardgame Iβve had sitting unplayed on my shelf for bloody ages! What a great game! Lovely game figures and board and really fun gameplay. Ok, you need a football pitch to play it on, but Timothy Payne has that perfect pitch-sized table πππ».
Wishing you well Matt π₯°βπ»
Dean is destruction testing his 3D printed chain mail. Now with added commentary from his insane #skaven alter ego πππ₯π₯π₯
