visited X. God I am glad for bsky. This feels like what the internet discussion forums were before heavy politics, escalation and dog whistles.
I hope this feeling sticks. By reading X for a few minutes I'm tired of that tone of discussion. No respect towards anyone whatsoever. Horrible.
But before that! Obviously use what you know, explore what you do not know and create what you want as you go. If you notice that the tools you have do not help you to get to that goal, research and re-evaluate. :)
I'd suggest the path of least resistance. Whatever ensures the game is shipped. What comes to devices, there are constraints. ie. You probably want to develop a mobile game with Unity over Unreal Engine, especially if the game is bigger. If you're making a AAA game for PC, then sure, use Unreal.

I remember a time when I thought indie meant just a simple independent small game studio. Now you need to get a publisher or have robust marketing skills to be seen. Before it was about making a compelling game, and due to scarcity you'd be found if your stuff was good and different. Not anymore
