Kiawah controversy: Marketing tool or subsidy? Sandwiched between the resort islands of Kiawah and Seabrook, a teardrop-shaped spit of sand and marsh marks the entrance to Capt. Sam's Inlet.

We broke this story in 2008 when a Congressman tried to push through a bill to make this sand spit eligible for federal flood insurance. The story revealed how developers hoped to build 50 houses there. A backlash killed the bill and led to this long battle.

As other states push back on rising power bills, West Virginia lawmakers double down on coal While West Virginians struggle to pay their power bills, lawmakers are rejecting or tabling proposals to help.

Saw a story in the Mountain State Spotlight today about WV doubling down on coal and paying a price for that. It harkened back to one I reported in 2018. Here's the new story: mountainstatespotlight.org/2026/03/03/r...

You can avoid the fee by only going to the airport Tuesday between 11 and 1 pm. I did today, and there were 30 people waiting to ask the counter people to punch in their information. Just not a way to create loyalty.
