It's been a decade.
Imagine living TEN FUCKING YEARS watching as a blatant, artificial campaign to erase your personhood, your identity and your safety chugs along, increasing in power every single day, and most people don't care or dismiss it
Problem is everyone loves their favorite music or books or tv and can be made to care about them.
Much harder to make the uninterested care about whether an operation is being done on their device or in a cloud (if they even know there’s a difference to begin with)
Much has been said lately about ownership of media (rightfully so) but I do do desperately hope that people also realize the importance of local computing.
We need to be able to own our machines and operate them freely.
Also worth noting that "physical media" in music and film are mostly still just digital copies. They're just stored in a really inefficient way. If your actual thing is "you should own locally stored copies of things" then you can just keep stuff on a hard drive
