Having a go with the calculations of the unsatisfied Boendale scribe, who never wishes to write again for such a small amount (βPro tali precio nunquam plus scribere voloβ).
Can anyone read the penultimate word?

I agree, it does not seem very common. I think I am looking for leads in the 16th/17th centuries?

I read "hindre faij". Especially the hindre seems a bit strange to me. But of course, a proper name can go into all kinds of directions.

Sunday question for palaeographers: is anyone able to figure out who lived at the Botermarkt (of an unspecified town)?
MS probably related to a female Dominican house in the Southern Low Countries

I cherish the intense day-long conversations with excellent experts (Carolyn Muessig, @pabloacostag.bsky.social, Edward Sutcliffe & George Ferzoco) about the various ways in which women could preach and participate in the transmission of sermons.
More to come in the 2025 issue!

Female Preaching in Premodern Europe: An International Workshop
Published in Medieval Sermon Studies (Ahead of Print, 2024)
In 2023 Carolyn Muessig organised a workshop on Female Preaching in Premodern Europe in Calgary. It was one of the most fruitful and fun events in my career. Now the first fruits of that workshop are available in the new issue of Medieval Sermon Studies.

Came to Leiden University Library, made a pop-up exhibit of medieval manuscripts. Next item: something cool.
(3) Two copies of same Middle Dutch text made by same scribe c1450 for different clients. One ordered copy on parchment, the other on paper (see alt text). Now reunited on same table.
