University of Galway plans to end and replace arts course amid fall-off in interest
‘Urgent’ reform aims to meet changing needs of students as they seek ‘direct routes to employment’
As someone who took an arts degree and works as a teacher of Classics and English, this report is deeply worrying. We are losing sight of the purpose of education.

New R-Rated Dracula Movie From Acclaimed Director Has Critics & Audiences Very Divided On Rotten Tomatoes
Is the new Dracula movie enchanting enough?
There is no love story between Mina and Dracula in Stoker's novel. Reviewers of film adaptations would do well to read the novel first.

Yep. This is why I try to wait till Friday to make transfers, if price rises are not an issue.

A screenshot of Lala and Po from the teletubbies. The screenshot is clearly taken from someone's phone, as the borders of the tv can be seen, as well as glimpses into the apartment behind them. Po is in bed wrapped up in a blanket. The text below them reads "I know you were high at my mother-in-laws funeral..."
More screenshots from the Teletubbies. Lala seems to be upset with a terrified Po. the text below reads "Did you kill the dog? Why would you do that?!"
A third screenshot from the Teletubbies, this time the same scene as before. Po is wearing an apron while Lala seems to still be upset at him. The text below reads "You're nothing but a failure of a man."
In the 2010s, the Icelandic tv station Channel 2 accidentally added subtitles from a gritty crime drama to an episode of Teletubbies.
I have translated some of the highlights

So, another Man United manager bites the dust.
Stares into the distance while waiting for @playingwithdust.bsky.social to suggest an appropriately insulting new managerial appointment...

A very Merry Christmas to all! If today is not your thing for any reason (and there can be many), then may it be a peaceful day.
Have a good one!

Luc Besson has made a new movie of "Dracula." In an interview with "The Irish Times" he says what struck him upon re-reading Stoker's novel was the journey Dracula takes over 400 years to be reunited with his wife. I don't know what novel he read, but it wasn't Stoker's. #Dracula #LucBesson

I completely agree with you, Ciara. Four houses on our road have put up decorations already. It's a practice I don't really understand. Christmas is in that's where decorations should stay. To be clear, I love Christmas, and we put up lots of decorations, but not in November!

Commercialism kicks in, followed by globalisation and Halloween is everywhere! Big time! Lots of commercial potential too!
Is that okay for a deadline induced brief summary of where Halloween came from?

Irish emigrate to the USA and take Halloween with them. Over time alterations occur, pumpkins for turnips, trick or treating (invented by very religious Americans as a way to take paganistic aspects out of the day. Yeah, I know, lets dress up as monsters, it's more acceptable to God. 😂) Then... 2/3

Halloween's origins are definitely Celtic. The ancient Irish had a belief that on October 31st, the veil between this life and the next was lifted. So, they carved turnips and put candles in it to ward off the spirits of the dead. Thats basically the origin. Then, in the 1840s onwards A LOT of 1/3
