Sadly I'm retreating from BlueSky. I get all the reasons for choosing it over Threads, but over there I see way more posts about things I'm interested in, get a lot more engagement with my posts and it has a spoiler text/image feature which is SO needed across all social media.
I'd think of it as I've worked with some incredible people over the years, but once they leave you keep in touch less and people talk about them less.
I caved and read the transcript of Brandon Sanderson doing a reading of Ghostbloods.
A tiny snippet but enough to tide me over for a little bit. Three years to go...
Very impressive you got him in that. Pumpkin is not a fan of clothing.
Do you ever call him Number One?
Bird blindness 🤣
What an amazing name for a cat!
I miss this kind of strategy game. Let me build up a base and stomp on the enemy with overwhelming force. Then mix in the odd stealth and/or unit only missions. Love it.
It's been a while since I stayed up past 3am playing video games. Enjoying it while I can, back to work and routine next week.
Tempest Rising is as good as you could get for an unofficial sequel to Command and Conquer.
In fact it felt like a live-action Lower Decks more than the actual Lower Decks crossover episode.
That episode of Strange New Worlds (Four and a half Vulcans) was hilarious. Then made even more so by that post-credit scene :D
I do like the odd stealthy mission though when you're controlling a sniper and some cloaked units.
Really enjoying Tempest Rising, the borderline spiritual successor/copyright infringing RTS based on Command & Conquer.
I am a simple man, all I want to do is build an impenetrable base and overwhelm the enemy with a swarm of drones. I never get bored of it.
Dreamt I had a pupil progress meeting tomorrow. Stupid brain, I have one more week left of the summer holidays, dream up something cool please!
I think it's just the first season and a bit that's not aged as well. It is still good though and definitely gets better as it goes along.
Oh wow, you are in for such a treat! Yeah there are a couple of awful episodes and I think TNG has aged the worst, but TNG, DS9 and Voyager were my formative shows growing up and I will forever love them.
Much as I found Neelix a much more interesting character as an adult. His and Tuvok's relationship is one of the best bits of Voyager.
As a kid I found Lwaxana annoying. As an adult I found the episode with her comforting Odo when they get trapped together in a lift (I think? He needed to turn into a puddle anyway) very moving and I was really sold on the character then.
Thanks! She just got home and is buzzing.
She got the results she needed! So relieved and proud.
Literally the worst thing I think I've ever heard of. Stay strong.
Definitely feel more nervous for my daughter's GCSE results than I ever was for my own.
Yup. Gets her GCSE results Thursday too!
My 16yr old is about to run her first D&D session. She's baked a cake for them all to share. Hope they all have fun!
Me, a 42yr old white guy with a beard and glasses, on my sofa with my tortie cat laid on her back, arms stretched out wide.
Cinder loves a good stretch when cuddling.
Seems similar to seeing the children of migrants who are then anti-immigration. Mind boggling.
In honour of assembling my first Gundam, I have decided to start watching the original TV show. Man I'd have eaten this up as a kid. The closest I got was Starzinger which my mum bought a VHS of when I was maybe 8, I think it was a few episodes of the show edited as a film.
I liked the overall story idea a lot, which is why I've already bought the next two books in the series. I guess I've been spoiled with back to back books where I've really cared about the characters and I've felt Big Feelings and that's not really happened with Red Rising.
