For me, it was that there is no floor: doesn't matter how much you sand it down, someone will demand you sand it down more, until you are silent.

And do we choose those who hate us over those who we could serve by writing the thing as-much-itself as we can?

There's been a lot of salutary discourse recently about how frustrating it can be as a reader to realize that an author is afraid of you, and minimizing the stakes and the impact of their work out of fear of upsetting you.

So--for my writers, how do you teach yourself to get over that fear?

Everyone who tried to draw around me and started drawing LOVED it at the beginning because of their QUICK IMPROVEMENT. Then quit when they hit The Wall™️.

But it's when you hit The Wall™️ that you NEED to push through with practice!! And you gotta do it for yourself, because it's ALWAYS worth it! 😤

Finally finished this up! It's done in watercolor, gouache, and color pencils. I know I should try to render it in more detail but I'm not sure I want to. I like the texture being able to be textures. Maybe that will change in the future. For now, though, I like it 😅
