Veterans like me spent our lives enforcing the rules that keep our troops honorable and our country safe. I will not sit quietly while political appointees or politicians try to normalize war crimes.
Service members are taught from day one that an order directing the commission of a crime must be refused. The Manual for Courts-Martial makes clear that no service member can rely on a superior’s order when a person of ‘ordinary sense and understanding’ would know the order is unlawful.
