I for one am heartened to see how well fiction podcasts are doing.
An image titled "The Podcast Charts" from Spotify, displaying a ranked list of the Top 10 Podcasts in the United States. This is bleak.
I wonder how many people assume this movie is an artsy slog when it’s more white-knuckle than the last three dozen thrillers I’ve watched and feels 20 minutes long.
CSPAN @cspan . @SpeakerJohnson after House blocked War Powers Resolution: "We're not at war, we have no intention at being at war. The president and the Department of Defense have made it very clear, this is a limited operation."
Darkly funny he had enough self-awareness to revert to "Department of Defense" here.
IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT - fuck, man (complimentary)
Thank you!
This has gotta be the funniest "I didn't vote for this" of them all. You didn't vote for *DONALD TRUMP* to launch ill-advised, self-flattering construction ventures? *That's* what you never saw coming?
(Not having seen it, I can't say if the movie ever clarifies what betting on "a dude fucking an alligator" actually entails)
The line is too long, too cumbersome, and kinda doesn't feel like it was written with Grammer in mind, but he spins it into gold. Terrible politics aside, the guy can act.
My favorite thing about this legendary clip is how utterly Grammer nails the delivery of that preposterous line.
I'm realizing now I don't think I've ever heard any BTS stuff about Dillon, for good or ill.
I imagine it's the least-discussed aspect of that particular sequence, but Dillon's acting in the legendary Wild Things threesome scene is *incredibly* (and to be clear, intentionally) funny, just masterful stuff.
I forgot Dillon had a genuine hot streak in the late 90s (In & Out, Wild Things, Something About Mary), but they're all supporting roles I can't imagine his agent wanted him to take.
(Obviously this is partly because Radcliffe never needs to make another dollar as long as he lives, but there's lots of other big actors for whom that's true who seem to obsess about career strategy.)
Daniel Radcliffe, bless him, may be the least strategic famous actor of all time. His entire approach to choosing roles seems to be "heh, sure, that seems fun." Not since Matt Dillon has a household name so utterly followed their whims to the exclusion of all other considerations.
Turns out lawlessness is not a winning strategy. See you at Nuremberg 2.0
I'm sure Noem's (sorta reasonable under the circumstances) position was "What? I thought we could just do this stuff now!"
The national press knows how to make this the kind of multi-week scandal it deserves to be - Trump is directly, unambiguously responsible for what happened to these children - but for some reason has chosen not to.
Because of the privileging of rental blue-checks, the first hundred replies to any even modestly popular left-leaning tweet are rabid right-wingers. It's blatantly designed to make extremely-online groyper-types seem like the Voice of the People, and purportedly smart pundits are falling for it.
Do you have a half-hour long chore or errand this weekend? Listen to this while you do it. I even have a tiny cameo!
New audio drama from your boy! There's nothing like getting to write for @thetruthfiction.bsky.social. "Garden Of Evan" started as me interrogating myself about why I hate taking out the compost so much... and goes to some pretty deranged places from there.
I fleetingly saw this while scrolling, stopped for a closer look, and got the weirdest answer imaginable to “Huh, what’s Craig T. Nelson up to?”
An obsession but when is enough, enough? Do check out this surreal, fun episode, written by @macrogers.bsky.social - @thetruthfiction.bsky.social - Garden of Evan 💜

(Yeah yeah I’ve heard all the stuff about how the Norbit thing is probably a myth. I just find the idea that Jessie Buckley of all people could find herself in the same Oscar narrative as Eddie Murphy conceptually amusing.)
I hope I disagree and completely love it - I hope I love every movie - but I had to laugh at someone saying The Bride! is potentially Jessie Buckley’s Norbit.
Giving this SUBEDAAR the appraising eye. I could totally go for “Anil Kapoor is The Equalizer” if it’s half decent.
burgess owens in the house, steve daines in the senate, ryan zinke in the house, and that's just this week; for a party who allegedly doesn't think they'll have to run for election again, there's a record number of them tucking tail and running
(What I really want is to go back in time and have Egoyan make this with Ian Holm or Bob Hoskins as Max in the early 00’s)
Atom Egoyan’s Harold Pinter’s THE HOMECOMING
