We are so lucky to have @luriechildrens.bsky.social pediatrics residents rotate with us. Doing some chalk talk teaching on hypertension and electrolyte disorders 🫘🧂 (and left the pre existing Pride sign on the board 🏳️🌈 ☺️)

So proud of our pediatric nephrology fellowship graduates!
Drs. Ana Solis Zavala, Sammi Schwartz, and Andy Vissing, we could not be more proud and look forward to following your careers over time! 🫘😍
The goal of this clinic is to facilitate real-time coordination of multidisciplinary care for kids with complex pelvic, urologic, and anorectal malformations, such as bladder exstrophy and cloacal malformations.
We are excited to see what this collaboration sparks! ✨🎇❇️
For today's Nephron Friday Feature, we are excited to share the work of Dr. Kavita Hodgkins in co-establishing a new SPARK clinic!
This Specialized Pelvic AnoRectal Kidney clinic is co-led by Drs. Hodgkins (nephrology), Grabowski (pediatric surgery), and Yerkes (urology).
Thrilled to be hosting the wise and accomplished @rheaultm.bsky.social for a combined adult and pediatric nephrology grand rounds on Alport syndrome.
Thank you for your tremendous work and sharing your insights with us! 🫘🧬
“Pediatric nephrologists in medium-sized programs had the highest volume of clinical work, and administrative support for transplant, dialysis, and fellowship programs was often limited. These findings may inform the design of interventions to enhance pediatric nephrology care.”
“An imbalance exists between the increasing demand for services provided by pediatric nephrologists and the capacity of the workforce…compounded by professional stress and burnout among pediatric nephrologists and a low level of interest in pediatric nephrology training.”
Worried about the future of the pediatric nephrology workforce, particularly with upcoming @acgme.bsky.social residency changes?
We are too. Proud to share the results of this discussion among peds nephrology division heads led by our own Dr. Priya Verghese.

✨ Happy Nurse’s Week to the best people we know! 🤩
Loving our Lurie Neph representation at #PAS2025! Learning all about cardiorenal syndrome, updates in nephrotic syndrome, novel approaches for diabetic kidney disease, and so much more 🤩
We are excited to see where this research will take our fellows next! ✨
Our fellows are studying outcomes in C3GN, variation in glomerular disease across the lifespan, the utility of repeat biopsy in SLE nephritis, predictors of fluid overload in NEC, and the impact of non English language preference on transplant outcomes.
So proud of our fellows presenting at @luriechildrens.bsky.social Research Scholar day today!
Shout out to our awesome team of nurses and admins for making this possible. We couldn’t do the work we do without you! 💪🏻

The goal of this project is to improve and standardize follow-up care for pediatric patients with AKI in order to detect CKD earlier and prevent renal disease progression through utilization of the risk prediction tool and insights from pediatric patients, families, & providers.
