All the more so with the show establishing them as mainly PoC cultures, and then relegating them to mere ~exotic~ stage background for the stories of the white Westerosi characters

I've been reading a GoT fic which does such a fantastic job fleshing out the cultures in Essos and giving Essosi proper voices and agency in Dany's court, it makes me sad all over again for what we could have had in canon

From my previous recs, LGIEF was a really good distracton from RL show for me, for one

Academy for addictive shows. The music alone is SO DAMN GOOD, it's been a year or so since I watched it and I still can't get it out of my head. I was like, I'll never be interested in a soldiers in basic training show and then I ended up loving everyone and being obsessed with them. They're epic!

if you're looking for something epic like LBFAD, did you check out Till the End of the Moon? I was super addicted to it, it's got lengthier sad parts though

Oof yeah if you're bitter about GoT then HotD isn't a good choice because most of fandom is as disappointed by their season 2 as GoT fans by s8. still has fun moments of my favs, though, enough to keep me fed even if I hate what they did to my babies

Oh! And if you just want something really funny, Royal Rumours! It's a comedy poking fun at the whole historical romance genre tropes and super cute

falling on undeserved hard times but it's mostly heartwarming) or Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (funny modern girl in xianxia transmigration with a lot of heart) or for kdramas Under the Queen's Umbrella (has some tragedy but the family stuff is so sweet and it has a lot of humor)

Well I'm right now addicted to House of the Dragon but that is neither any of these nor finished (and gonna end depressing, so def not a good pick-me-up show)
