David Richmond, Franklin McCain, Ezell Blair, and Joseph McNeil sat down at the Greensboro Woolworths' WHITES ONLY lunch counter on February 1, 1960 and asked to be served. This photo of four Black men sitting at the counter—not being served, of course—is actually from the 2nd day, and one of the original men is replaced by someone else, but I can't find that name right now.
This Black History Month especially, let's remember that four terrified teenagers once did something little, and it ended up becoming very, very big.
