Thread.

A well-structured wealth tax that actually finds and targets this grotesque hoarding is vital.
Doctors, lawyers, people with a decent nest egg, etc will not be affected which is what anyone ‘upper middle class’ is afraid of.
Meanwhile, we wouldn’t have to do things like ration dialysis.

I may be tempting providence but this kindle is now more than 10 years old and is a treasured library of hundreds of books. Currently finishing the Dungeon Crawler Carl series before moving on to the Golden Mean.

six drawings of a child's swing:
1. What the committee discussed (swing with an unworkable 3-layer seat)
2. What the project team designed (swing with unworkable 3 ropes, one through the middle of the seat)
3. what the mayor approved (swing stretched across the trunk of the tree)
4. what the contractors installed (swing with ropes attached to the trunk instead of a branch, seat sits useless on the ground)
5. what the engineers modified it to (the top of the tree is cut off so the swing can go through the middle of the tree)
6. what the public really wanted (an old tyre hanging invitingly from a branch)

Scan of a photocopy of one of the most right-on political cartoons ever. Clipped from a NZ peace magazine in the 1980s. #kikorangi

Went to an art Journaling workshop in golden bay - trying to move away from expectation that every picture I do has to be a perfect end product - out of my comfort zone 😬

I had a lovely chat at the checkout with a gorgeous woman in a wheelchair with pink hair and giant gold earrings, the operator with lilac glitter and aurora earrings and me with my pink leather tasselled earrings - we decided that we were the coolest checkout in town

A Facebook post which reads:

She's been a busy night! 8 back to back calls from 10.30pm until 7.00am for our hardworking crew to assist our neighbourhood with various storm damage.

Most notably, we were called to the Newlands Community Centre just before midnight to find roofing iron had lifted off and fallen into Batchelor Street, obstructing traffic. The iron was lifted onto the footpath by our crew out of harms way. The interior of the Centre is intact aside from a small leak on the upper floor. Take care when driving or walking around Batchelor Street as this was cordoned off by police after we handed the scene over and the iron i: still present on the footpath.

The weather is still set to be windy and wild today. If you haven't already, make sure to tie down any trampolines, outdoor furniture, or any other loose outdoor items. Take care on the roads with low visibility and branches and trees down. Metservice has reported this weather to continue until this afternoon at a minimum.

A reminder that we are a 100% volunteer brigade of Newlands locals. Our team will be turning up to work this morning very tired. A huge thanks to our wonderful crew for all the hard mahi in the awful conditions overnight.
We are available 24/7 365 days of the year.

If you need urgent help or you see someone else needing help, do not hesitate to call 111. Take care out there!

FB post from the local fire brigade…

It’s so insane that that are all volunteers. Why has this service been dictated as not being fully funded…
