I’ll leave for later why reporters didn’t fact-check - there’s an ugly story there too. But the urgent issue is, Platner would be crushed in the general. It's best to lance the boil now. Here’s the document, sourced and Wikipedia-ready. You should read it. The NRSC sure will. 11/

Just imagine what Collins can do with this. Of course DoD would FedEx her Platner’s service record the moment she asked. Imagine the ads she can make, mocking his little-boy lies and excuses. NRSC staffers have been following this account, like sharks. 10/

Once again, I am begging people to remember there are more than two candidates running to be the Democratic Senate nominee from Maine, and at least two are Army veterans who did NOT get Nazi tattoos.

Thinking of Sir James Munby today, given the news re the assisted dying bill.
Many thanks to him and to you at the Transparency Project for publishing his astute analyses of the bill’s problems.
So grateful that he cared enough to take such trouble to write on this

"Through his campaigning, he has managed to raise awareness such that within Britain people understand the nature of his condition, making him more able to live a normal life. But the Bluesky Americans may be watching so we should probably put him in the box. It's a nice box!"

Who's the billionaire behind London’s biggest mass eviction? He's the London philanthropist who says he's committed to solving homelessness. So why is Asif Aziz's Criterion Capital rushing to make hundreds of Londoners homeless in the coming weeks?

London’s “worst mass eviction in recent history” is underway; hundreds of households across London told to get out of their homes this week by the same landlord, ahead of the renters rights act. The landlord? Billionaire Asif Aziz’s Criterion Capital. www.londoncentric.media/p/asif-aziz-...

So depressing to see a Labour MP push misinformation like this.

The judgment @kateosbornemp.bsky.social refers to is here: goodlawproject.org/wp-content/u....

Will she say which paragraph/s say “the EHRC’s draft code of practice got the law wrong”? No. Because none do.

I only repeat this fact because I read a blogpost comparing protest in the west (which is just performative, apparently, unlike the photo) to it *even though* it is in fact a performance that did, indeed, take place in the west.

Continuing my role as crusher of joy, I do need to point out that that great photo of the woman lighting a cigarette with a photo of the ayatollah was taken in Ottawa several years ago and is not current.

Listened to R4 WATO yesterday with someone - a friend of the hunger strikers - talking about the desperate situation her friends are in. And it was clear that for *not one moment* does she question her or the other "supporters" roles in enabling this. There's an extremely dark death cult aspect to

It's really interesting to see all the Americans sharing this, saying it must be AI (no! AI makes different sorts of mistakes) or mocking the very idea that gelt is anything other than chocolate coins. But the Jewish world is bigger than America.

See, as a British Jew I suspect it's the opposite. I totally learned in school (wrongly!) that "Chanukah" is the better spelling and "Hanukkah" was American goyishe. False, but false in a very Jewish way.

And plenty of families still give real gelt, though lots give chocolate gelt or gifts intead

Staggering arrogance and stupidity from McDonnell. We all know what sex we are. There's no reason for men to break the law and use women's single-sex spaces. They can simply respect women's boundaries or can be told to leave. Women matter in society, law, culture, politics ... and elections!

There is no need for a moral panic about the UK's welfare system.

Far from perfect but recent discourse is nuts

Spending is controlled, not spiralling

Worklessness is near record lows

Rather illustrates why more Reform politicians getting elected several years before a Westminster poll is due may be a rather mixed blessing for Farage. Plenty of time for opponents and press to dig into his colleagues’ backgrounds. Things like this turn up remarkably often.
