and studying Striped hyenas for drawing her is so cool! I did some (limited) research on hyena ears and Eyesight when i wrote about her, But didn't look much into their teeth beyond knowing about their super strong jaws

yeah!!! The stuff that's most interesting to me about oripathy is the way that it Changes and disrupts "normal" bodily function, and her mouth stuff is such a visceral version of that. and The way it also changes how she interfaces with the world is so so good.

this is everything to me!!! i think about lyudmila's mouth situation all the time, and it's wonderful to see someone else who's put so much thought into it & understands her appeal so deeply! especially LOVE the details about smoke impacting her gums, and her hyena jaw strength

two drawings of crownslayer, one from early in the story, and one from years later in the current era of the story. They both show the state of the infection in her mouth during those time periods, with the first only having crystals in the back of the tongue and one missing tooth while the second has more crystals across the tongue, another missing tooth on the bottom, and more discolored teeth. The text for the first reads: year 1096-97. Crystals have crept up from her throat into her mouth. However, they are far back enough still that you'd have to get a really good look in order to spot them. Passive smoke exhalation was present, but very light and not much of an issue when camping in the Ursus outdoors." For the second, the text reads: year 1100+. The consequences of constant arts use from her time fighting in Reunion has metastasized in the years afterwards.
