Me when I saw Carney say “zionist Palestine.”
Carney saying that Palestine could only have a state if it is zionist is like saying Ukraine can only have a state if it is Soviet. That’s how offensive that was.
#cdnpoli
Zionism is not canadian. Mr. Carney, if you want to difference yourself from the far-right, cut all support to Israel. Racism, fascism and genocide support are not canadian
WAKE UP MR. CARNEY. THE PUCK IS THERE

We proudly signed on to this group's open letter campaign in 2024 and wish them great success. Israel has killed nearly 200 journalists since 2023 (www.ifj.org/war-in-gaza), making 2024 the deadliest year for journalists in the last thirty years. We stand in solidarity with our colleagues.
Outside Toronto's Israeli consulate, a group of journalists launches Canadian Journalists for Justice in Palestine.

"There is nothing Israel has not done to silence the journalists on the ground in Gaza," says Mohyeddin, who emphasizes that "they are our colleagues."
They also observe that Canadian media has sacrificed its own credibility in the way it has covered the conflict, such that the weaknesses of institutional media have become increasingly apparent to a whole lot of people.
"An offense to Palestinian journalists is an offense to journalists everywhere," Roy says she'd tell those journalists who aren't here because they think it's unimportant. She also acknowledges many journalists aren't in attendance because they might face professional repercussions for doing so.
Women in Black mobilized against genocide in Toronto. They credit Michele Landsberg with getting it started.
Hundreds gathered for the second time on June 20, joining millions around the world calling for an end to the genocide and starvation of Palestinians. Deborah Barndt:
"For me, it's a broader call for peace not war in the Middle East, as tensions rise, and more innocent people lose their lives."
Today Canadian journalists for justice in 🇵🇸 (@cjjpmedia on ig + X) was launched in several cities across Canada. At the Toronto launch press conference, @smohyeddin.bsky.social read Hossam Shabat's last statement, which was published after he was assassinated by the IOF last March.
Canadian media workers should care because an attack on journalists in Gaza is an attack on journalists everywhere, says @royinori.bsky.social.

Zohran is a sign that the 25 years of uninterrupted Islamophobia and decades of pro Israel propaganda is cracking. Containment is broken. For most normal people, especially new yorkers, this blatantly racist agitprop will have the opposite of its intended effect.
What is sometimes disappointing in the museum education world is when these dioramas aren't used as a metacognitive reflective opportunity to peel apart colonial thinking towards history.
The Committee to Protect Journalists reports that this targeted strike on Iran state television comes amid a wider escalation between Israel and Iran. [1/2]
It also marks a disturbing extension of a deadly pattern: the CPJ says Israeli forces have killed at least 186 journalists and media workers since the Gaza war began—the highest number CPJ has ever recorded in a single conflict. [2/2]
Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi mopped the floor with his opponents in the Edmonton-Strathcona by-election Monday.

Some people get into journalism because they’re skeptical of power, and others do so because they’re impressed by it. Moments like this are clarifying with respect to who’s who.
Spoke with CTV News about Israel’s attack on Iran.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My mom Michele Landsberg wrote columns for decades - changing countless lives with her powerful prose and sparkling arguments.
At 85, goddamn she still has it. Read this piece about her pop-up feminist protest against genocide.
Mom, you’re my hero.

Picture of Greta Thunberg named Time Magazine's 2019 person of the year. Recent picture of Greta Thunberg labeled antisemite of the week by Jewish Advocacy Group.
A reminder that you can go from person of the year to anti-semite of the week if you want to feed starving children. Welcome to zionism.
@avilewis.bsky.social - look what your ma did! 🖤
Truly an honour to be part of the Toronto Women in Black vigil today. Indeed kudos to Michele Landsberg for organizing it. The great news is that there will be more of these! Thanks so much for this wonderful photo, @citizentalin.bsky.social
