It's so long winded and effectively simple in its language, that it makes it easily readable. One of the problems I found was the reuse of database fields to hold info that wasn't relevant, rather than updating the schema. Also EUC which grabbed processed data and would break their systems.
Ah, my experience is COBOL/JCL/SCL/CICS/TPMS/IDMS/IDMSX/etc etc running on a mainframe. Started coding in the 80's, so hearing the word legacy (or heritage!) to describe code, the new-fangled ones like C++ do not come to mind :-)
Usually legacy code does not need 'fixing' as it just works. It reflects a company's operating model. The issue is when the company wants to change that model.
