medical.brown.edu/news/2024-09... Have to brag on Janet Joseph, a Gilliam Fellow at Brown I had the privilege of working with who studies how biological and chemical stressors affect placental inflammation and neuroinflammation, shaping infant brain development. #Neurobiology #PlacentaResearch

Please give us more empirical work on this!! We didnβt even get into the whole what about development and timing in the immune system *gestures wildly*
Really enjoyed Dr. Ana Baumann's grand rounds presentation at Brown Psychiatry on health equity and implementation science!
We decided against it π«

Currently looking at flow data now and wow thereβs no composite or factor that even goes well with our dataset
To your point I have also had to complicate my understanding of inflammation from my own projects past and present
I agree; the deeper I get into immune work the less I find composites helpful for interpretation. Iβd rather see individual cytokines corrected for multiple comparison & contextualized than a composite (personally!!). Granted the author team on the paper do great work - not an indictment on anyone
Would love your thoughts - donβt have time to dig in on this myself right now but i have the same feeling about many inflammatory composites
