This "incredibly dark reality" is indeed far worse than I had expected. Completely separate from reasonable debates about aid effectiveness, the immediate halting of aid can only be explained by immense cruelty.

Lots of excellent work establishes a link between womenโs labor force participation and political behavior. These studies mostly focus on women working in the formal economy in wealthier countries but the vast majority of employed women in poorer countries in the informal economy.
