The reason she SHOULD have been fired.
I wrote about how the US and Israel carried out an attack on an Iranian girls school on par with the OKC bombing and US media relegated it to a back page story. No stand alone evening news segments, no front page stories, it made A11 in the NYT then everyone moved on.
Have been slowly watching Munich all week because of this piece! Kushner has been one of my absolute favorite writers for 25+ years but I never realized I should see it.
One hundred fucking percent same.
"At the end of the world, and in the grand scream of things..."
If malignant chutzpah could be measured by seismograph, the Trump administration would truly be at Godzilla levels
His company was an apple and my god did he succeed in being fruitful and multiplying that mindset.
Branded. Vending machines. Of Tobacco pouches. Hey, at least Palantir has a brand and they're proud of it: "Disgusting tech. Disgusting policies. Disgusting vibes." πππ
One of the biggest lies silicon valley figures and their friends have told is that they are atheists. This is spot on.
Spent years researching the idea that Silicon Valley tech/AI have become the world's most powerful religion, and after the book tour I was so sick of social media that I took last year off here and mostly anywhere else. But it's still fun at times! Post-return highlight=a reskeet from @gregpak.net!π
Let me be clear: Iβm glad Kristi Noem was fired. But we still have to abolish ICE.
Millions of good and sincere believers practice faith from a place of earnest and humble conviction.
Then there are millions who turn to religion out of utter panic at all the choices a life of free thought requires.
Asking Google to manage your family is 100% a flight from ethical responsibility

Itβs the screen through which we must interpret all truth. bsky.app/profile/hype...
Some religions sort of leave you alone to think for yourself most of the time. Then there are sects that won't let a single meal, snack, piss, or even breath go by without inserting a ritual to remind you of your obligations to their God. The tech religion is increasingly determined to be the latter
unreal
This π§΅makes clear: AI makes it much easier to select and hit 1000s of "targets" (human lives & institutions!) regardless of accuracy or judgement. AI then helps turn careful reporting on such into useless slop. We're investing trillions into a tool for producing the fog of war, at scale.

The director should be fired mid-film. No need for any further work.
Actually the only way to defeat drug cartels is to address the demand, which requires the literal opposite of war: care. But he doesnβt give a shit about helping people with substance use disorder.
The Vatican has been holding lots of meetings about AI and religion. I've been to one and interviewed people about several others. What people need to understand: For some participants the meetings are about human values & justice. For others it's mainly about...how to use AI to advance Catholicism.
Amid all the extremely important conversations about the deeply evil person who shared my last name, let us never forget his case was hardly unique, and nor were the powerful networks who shamefully empowered him the only ones to do such things.
I have heard some really freaky things about AI, but I swear I just got an email that made me want to hold up a cross and pray in Jesus's name. Which, uh, is a lot if you know me.
So ChatGPT tells people to kill themselves, and OpenAI's response is to shift responsibility to unpaid, untrained, non-professional friends and family members.
So if you get designated as the "trusted contact," you're doing terrifying unpaid work for this evil company.
Shut it all down.
A cartoon from the 1950βs thatβs more relevant than ever π
People love to talk about how one day AI will, like, make miracle drugs by the bushel but first it might have to rebuild the labs that will be destroyed in round after round of "faster than thought" AI bombing. (***This skeet is not a plan of action, Sam***)
I can't believe I may need to say this, but a repost does not imply endorsement of the stated length of recommended sentence. It sure as hell does imply agreement with what I see as the general sentiment.
Washington post editorial board: Bernie sanders 2028 litmus test would strangle Americaβs golden goose. sub head: a 5 percent annual wealth tax on america's billionaires aims to halve their wealth
The Jeff Bezos Washington Post really doesn't like Bernieβs proposal to tax the rich.

This kind of religious prophesyβparadise for the good, hellfire for the wickedβhas been used to justify & sell war for millennia. And btw one reason this "Dept. of War" is so obsessed with AI: AI companies think π―π― the same way. True believer Meritocrats go to heaven/utopia; others face AI "doom"
I got asked to participate in a big study of how chaplains should use AI in our work. I filled out the 1st round, just to make comments like, "I beseech you to not even study this any further," and, there is absolutely no place for this among us and I'm shocked you apparently can't see that"
