Please continue to protest the mass deportations undertaken by the Trump administration. These deportations are cruel and rooted, not in law, but in xenophobia. We must remain nonviolent as Trump seeks to create a crisis in #Portland that would justify deploying more unneeded troops to our city.
A short time ago two Portlanders were shot by federal agents in the city as part of Donald Trump’s mass deportation effort. We don’t know their condition. But we do know that we need to forcefully respond to Donald Trump with protest and prayer.

If the United States commits war crimes, those who gave the orders and those who carried them out should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Let justice roll.
If Jesus were born today, and fled as a refugee with his family to the United States to escape death as a child, Donald Trump and his ICE agents would separate him from Mary and Joseph- and deport him. The MAGA agenda is incompatible with God’s teachings. Remember that this Christmas.
Hope resists. It is in resisting evil that hope comes alive. Hope is soul food. It nourishes our spirit even during difficult times. Hope, however, is not passive- it is a call to build the Beloved Community.

It isn't being gay that is a sin. It's the bigotry and hate directed at the LGBTQ+ community that is truly sinful. It's a sin to oppose marriage equality, it's a sin to oppose anti-discrimination laws, it's a sin to oppose employment protections, because it is a sin to oppress another.
