The workbench of Glitchlet, showing a file panel, a code panel, and a preview panel.
Last year's shutdown of @glitch.com was a huge blow to my pedagogy. Glitch was ideal for creative coding classes and workshops. I looked around for alternatives. But there was nothing that was open, decentralized, and not at the mercy of VCs or Big Tech.
So I built my own. Here's Glitchlet.
A new version (v0.1.8) of p5.plotSvg, my #p5.js library for plotter-oriented SVG output, is now out. It includes support for Inkscape layers, and several bug fixes. github.com/golanlevin/p...

How fun is this? Watch an audience cheer and laugh in amazement over pixel zooming and an eraser tool. People had never seen anything like it. You can even hear Jobs saying "incredible" as Bill Atkinson demos panning around an image while zoomed in.
Screenshot of SubShifter website.
German public TV does not provide English subtitles. "Found" subtitle files are often not in sync.
But it's possible to linear correct srt files by using subshifter.bitsnbites.eu and syncing the first subtitle's timestamps and the last in the file.
It's a bit of work, but it works!

I once wrote a script to monitor Shepard Fairey's webshop to see when the limited Burroughs prints would go on sale. Of course, it didn't work, but luckily I checked the shop myself shortly before closing time. Print 420 / 450.
First time watching TNT’s cricket coverage and there’s some really good stuff visually showing the biomechanics of batters and bowlers actions

*This is quite a good essay about being a generative plotter-artist. This is, like, the inky, haywire, art-hacker plotter-art real-deal there.

The drawing machines by my students are inspiring like every year. They let them understand loops and simple algorithms in their first semester. The LEGO Education SPIKE Prime sets and Blockly is quickly understood and ready to use.

For this story, we used Gaussian splatting for the first time, which creates a unique aesthetic. What do you think?

Abu, do another thing now: Belbo orders Abu to change all words, make each “a” become “akka” and each “o” become “ulla,” for a paragraph to look almost Finnish.

Sharing a new niche tool I made - Font Ozempic laserpilot.github.io/font-ozempic/ it is specifically for taking SVGs with text objects and replacing the text with a single line font (or hershey text) and letting you re-position and save the file. Meant for pen plotters #penplotter #plotterart
