I am going round in circles. Can anyone remind me of the name of the illustrator/screen printer who does two tone illustrations of Bible verses? He is married with I think three or four children and has a beard. He does art exhibitions and talks on the content of his art.

Yes, I've come across that often - and recognise the impulse in myself too at times. I'm always looking for gentle starting points that don't trigger it, and ways of framing activities to take away some of the fear. An ongoing challenge, but very satisfying when someone dares to try something new

I love acrostics for that. Something about the rather arbitrary restriction seems to take the pressure to do something "good" away, at least a bit, which is helpful. We're going to chat a bit about "it's not the quality of the finished thing that matters, but if it helps you connect with God" too

A pair of hand knitted socks in self striping yarn, in yellow, turquoise, white and shades of purple grey
A friend knitted 1 and a half socks then stalled just before the 2nd heel flap. After several years in purgatory, they rediscovered them and asked if I fancied having a go at finishing them. A fun challenge! I'm really pleased with how good a gauge match I got, after a bit of experimentation

Both of these are great ideas - I like the idea of offering people several options, so they can find the one that makes them go "Yes! I could do that" - different for all of us.

Wonderful! The place near here is also where I trained as a spiritual director. When you get to the end of the course there's a mutual discernment type conversation about whether they will add you to their list of directors. Then a similar process to your little nun, when someone comes looking.

I've always wondered about that! I know a confessional is supposed to hide the identity of the penitent - but surely the priest has a good chance of recognising familiar voices? Thank you for clearing that one up for me, it's been in the back of my mind as a question for decades!

Yes, "You should find a spiritual director" is so easy to say, and not at all obvious how to actually do, in many cases. I'm grateful for an organisation locally that runs a "matchmaking" service, but it's only a partial solution.

That's interesting. Is it common in Catholicism for someone to have their own parish priest as their spiritual director? In the tradition I'm working in, it's seen as being better to go and see someone who's outside of your day to day setting.

That's one of my most common complaints when clergy stuff turns up on TV shows. "There's no way the headstone would be there already - the funeral was only earlier the same day!"

I'd love to! I'm gradually building up this part of what I'm doing and seeing what emerges. I've only done single days so far, but I'd love to do something longer, if the right setting and opportunity arose. I've occasionally traveled to different places to lead things too, if a group invites me.

I wonder if really lovely expensive pens would provoke enough of a mental shift that I'd suddenly get better at keeping track of them? I'm not sure. It sounds like a very happy set up you've got, though. The ink colours they had were so lovely

I buy about 10 at a time, and go through a constant cycle of losing them and finding them again. Sometimes I have 5 in the bottom of my bag and 3 in my coat pocket, sometimes none to be found, anywhere at all!

A big, dark coloured book of psalms, with a ribbon bookmark protruding from it. There are a handful of coloured pencil crayons lying across the top of it.
Planning a couple of "Creative Prayer for Beginners" type days and having a fun time playing with possible ideas. I'd love to hear about things people have done that are somewhere in that overlap between creativity and prayer.

A second #TinyJoy today!
A young staff member was standing outside a local nursery taking a short break, wearing pink fluffy pig ears. When I commented "Love your ears!", she showed me she had a fluffy pig snout too, which she'd temporarily removed, and I wished her a Happy World Book Day!

On the way down to church this morning, I walked past a bush in a front garden and as I did so a large number of goldfinches erupted out of it and flew in all directions. I'm sorry I disturbed them, but oh, what a burst of colour and joy!
