Ok, I understand. Personally I don’t believe in pity or feeling sorry for people; it’s condescending. If you can empathize, great; if you can’t, then that’s just reality. I’m autistic and have a level of alexithymia. I understand people’s circumstances even when I don’t feel the “correct” emotion.
Feeling bad is irrelevant and doesn’t affect anything, so that’s not an issue. You can hate someone and still believe in universal access to free libraries, or disability benefits, etc.
How would that be enforced? Monitored voting with individual punishments? I live in Alabama. The South is full of black people, immigrants, disabled and poor citizens getting screwed over, and every day I see people in “blue states” laugh about how we deserve nothing. Universal means universal.

Anyway, you’re not going to shame individual people into creating the ideal world, so you can give up that strategy now.
I know someone whose mom was a cook at an army base. If you parse out how many people getting a military paycheck have ever used lethal force, it’s going to be way less than you’re imagining in your head.
What about all the medical researchers who get military grant money? Murderers. USAMRIID research institute for infectious diseases? Bad. Do you live in a town propped up by military contractor spending? Also bad. You can take this logic anywhere.
I think y’all are severely underestimating the number of long term jobs in the military that don’t involve killing. If every recruit wanting to pay for college is a murderer by association, then everyone who works a Federal job is also a genocide enabler for propping up fascism. The logic is silly.

I remember sitting down to lunch at my new job, around 2019, and a lady I’d never met from a neighboring dept sat down next to me, introduced herself, and then explained how Jared Kushner’s peace negotiations in the ME were a sign of the impending apocalypse. I ate lunch at my desk after that.
I go on a lot of solo hikes. I can attest to hiking and coming across random crying women on the trail. I have absolutely had to help women who were abandoned find their way back to the start. I even give one woman a ride into town, because the guy that left her was her ride.
