And the fabric is stunning!
Cool, skills l aspire too. π€
Close up of part of the 190 inches of blind hem l stitched by hand.
Finally finished handsewing the blind him in my cloak. Whilst not the 500 miles as previous estimated (190 inches/482.6 cm) it did at once stage feel like it! But also strangely calming too. Time to take a break and work out the next step.

Have you tried sewist.com? I am also ample in that area and made their sloper/boudice mockup. Took me a couple tries to get the measurement right but that says more about my lack of experience than their site. Patterns are a couple of dollars each.
Have you checked out ISMACS? I find this site really helpful

Which model/make is it?
Youβre very welcome
1952 Singer 221k, being cleaned with sewing machine oil and q-tips.
Spa day for my new-to-me 1952 Featherweight 221k named Tricia for her previous owner. π€ #sewing #vsm
Hard to find second hand at a good price and not hard to service/maintain yourself. Lots of resources online to learn use/maintenance etc. and lm happy to help where l can (not an expert π)
Singer 201, considered by many as the Rolls Royce of the Singer Machines. Only sews a straight stitch (no zig zag etc). It has never had a problem with anything l have thrown at it (figuratively). Mine is a treadle but they definitely came with motors too. Very common so hopefully shouldnβt be 1/2
I also use sewist.com to generate pdf patterns based on my measurements. Hope these help.
Patterns designed for an βaverageβ industry standard size can be so frustrating. What are you trying to sew? Is it something you can βslash and spreadβ to increase the size?

What do you need it to do? Iβm a big fan of vintage machines (circa 1950s and earlier) as uncomplicated to use and care for.
The old vintage machines are definitely a lot less complicate, great workhorses and something you can service yourself.

I wasn't planning on buying another featherweight, but it followed me home⦠honest! Big thanks to @csharpminor.bsky.social for all his support. #sewing #sewingmachine #vsm
I like both combinations! Fabric envy!
Iβm always fascinated when l clean my vintage sewing machines with sewing machine oil because to me itβs so counter intuitive but it works!
I need to finish hand sewing my cloak hem, work out l colours for my Celtic knotwork embroidery & check a pattern. So a perfectly good day to rearrange my side of the studio, right? What could possibly go wrong? Besides snapping the leg off my large and heavy vintage display cabinet. π«£

I live in Australia and am a huge fan of small Canadian publisher Turnstone Press who went to a lot of trouble to help me buy a copy of one of their books that wasn't available in Australia.
Reworking my beloved cloak, one of the first things l ever made, way back in the β80s - and sadly it shows. Now that the hem is actually even, l decided to hand stitch an invisible hem. Only 500 more miles to seeβ¦ π€£ #sewing #garmentsewing #handsewing
Currently at an impasse - canβt find a colour scheme l like. Iβve put it aside to work on something else.
Thanks, l know lm going to find βdeviationsβ when l fill it in but hey, artistic licence and all that π
A complex Celtic knotwork design outlined in silver embroidery thread on white muslin
Work in progress: outline complete. Next l needs to work out the colour scheme. #embroidery #celticknotwork #handembroidery
Definitely worth going for it! Took me a couple of goes to get mine right, l used muslin as itβs cheap and easy to sew with.
Hooray and well done!
What model is it? Any problems with the thread (nesting etc?)
