Apparently I missed the Sunday school lesson about Jesus wanting us to bomb Iranian schools. Most weeks the teacher told us stories about Jesus healing the sick and loving everyone, but maybe I just forgot that one.

When Feed Nova Scotia is speaking up to say this NS provincial budget will β€œstrip away community services and leave those living in poverty further behind”, someone sure as hell better be listening.

Every Nova Scotian who is living with food insecurity represents a political failure.

Tim Houston's austerity budget envisions huge deficits, staff cuts, and a billion dollars in additional cuts by 2030 - Halifax Examiner The budget tabled today also slashes climate change-related science.

Nova Scotia’s budget came out and it’s one of the worst austerity budgets I’ve ever seen. I am going to use this thread as a place to point out everything that’s being cut.

Tomorrow, Edmonton hosts is annual Lunar New Year Festival at the Royal Alberta Museum. (Outdoor events cancelled due to weather, alas,) Did you know that Edmonton’s first Chinese immigrant settled here in 1890? Chung Kee arrived here from Calgary, via stagecoach, 15 years before Alberta existed.

As Sean says, don't take career advice from Nepo Babies.

I have a degree in Women's Studies & I can't tell you how many "basket weaving" jokes I heard as a student. It's not only a lazy dudebro quip Γ  la Bootstrapping, it's also sexist as hell. Treating woman-coded artisans as useless is booooring.

As a kid, I remember my mom showing me Best in Show. After her cancer diagnosis, my mom introduced me to Schitt’s Creek. We binged the entire series over the course of two visits. Catherine O’Hara was simply the best and I am so grateful for all the memories I made watching her work with my mom β™₯️

One day something will happen β€” a wedding, a graduation, a job promotion, Jake Paul getting knocked out, Andrew Tate getting knocked out the next day β€” and you’ll want the right outfit to celebrate. Buy that special outfit now, so you’re ready when that next unexpected moment arrives.

Don’t like rising property taxes? Consider:

- driving less/using transit more (to save our infrastructure)
- welcoming development in your mature neighbourhood (to add rate payers without building new infra)
- buying less from Amazon (they don’t pay taxes to us but use infra)
- going downtown

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.
