I was p confident we could get a grant to fund our upcoming biodiversity mural in Kensington. Last night, they called to say our partner school is 2 blocks outside of their service area.

Hey #sciart, I've been painting traditionally for the last 7 years or so, but was gifted a Cintiq this year. What software are you all using to paint these days?

I've had a couple experiences of someone providing AI generated "idea" images. In both of those cases the use of the ai actually created confusion about what the person expected. To the point of killing the project in one case. I would have preferred they draw me a stick figure.

Yes. Very much, this. The thing keeping most of us from making art is the ingrained idea that art is something only people more qualified than us can make. Hence, "that's not art, I/my child/my dog could paint this".

My lino block print of a charming Grimpoteuthis octopus, one of a genus of pelagic cirrate (finned) octopods known as the dumbo octopuses. The fins reminded scientists of ears on the elephant in Disney’s 1941 film Dumbo. Hence their common name dumbo octopuses. The print is 9.25” by 12.5” on delicate ivory Japanese washi paper with visible margin, number, title and signature. The background is black. The octopus is reddish on top, then dark blue, with brown legs are spiralled up and drawn in close to its body.
