It's possible that different people are getting mailings asking for different amounts, perhaps based on other contribution history. Contributions are pretty public info (the FEC even lists name/state/amount on their website). Don't want to ask someone good for $10 for $500, or vice versa.

Yes, VPN prevents some 3rd party (except for them) monitoring, tho DNS lookups may tell where you've been. Some provide secure DNS, else manually set to one such. If you're logged into somewhere (Google etc.) they may be able to track.

No 1 thing completely protects privacy. VPNs obscure IP addr/history. DNS lookups via VPN or trustworthy DNS server. Turn Location off. Block Goog/FB/etc. website icons. PW manager. Use diff PW/username everywhere. Good ad/tracker blocker. Use bogus personal info. Use Proton(etc.) email. Etc.

Of course not getting re-elected is a form of term limit. That happens to pols that even incumbent advantages don't help. It's those that constituents like that we're talking about dumping. It's a dilemma. I'd like to toss the bad ones, keep the good ones, but no way to do that.

Term limits say experience doesn't matter. It does. Almost no pol gets stuff done 1st term. Maybe (as an oldie it pains me to say) age limits? Certainly public financing to reduce incumbent protection. Maybe next decade, if we survive that long.

On reflection, most ICE/CPB seem pretty uneducated. So unless they grew up in a household speaking Russian or Korean, they're probably out of luck.
