I was wondering if you had any example games that do one or more of those three points (draft abilities, disposable characters, bookkeeping reduction) particularly well in the context of system mastery?
Who in this thread said anything about 'respect' or 'skills issue'? Wanting people to 'try it as intended before changing it', because the designer made choices on purpose, that might take some time for the table to realize the 'why' isn't the same conversation.

I'll start: Slugblaster, by @wilkiescandylab.com is a smart hack of the core systems, tweaked in just the right way to fit the more light-hearted adventure style of the game.
