With the help of a very special four-legged guest, Artie the Bernedoodle, let's talk about furloughs for city employees. Who's exempt, how often is the furlough, and how much do we save ultimately?

REMINDER: Our Post Carnival 2026 Meeting is this Monday! There will be no legislative items re: Mardi Gras up for a vote, as this is just a preliminary discussion.
I’ll add it to my list!
On it
Hit the Crescent City Farmers Market in City Park a little late today (10AM) and it was packed! Beautiful day to support some of our local farmers and businesses!
We also tried to catch the tulips 🌷 by the Big Lake but the warm weather seemed to do a number on them. Some are still in bloom though!
From @EntergyNOLA: All customers have been restored. Pictured is the Mylar balloon that caused the outage.
Tours will be available!
The flotilla will be comprised of tall ships from the US and from all over the world, including Chile, the Netherlands, and Ecuador. This is a once-in-a-generation moment, and it all begins in New Orleans!
New Orleans is kicking off the country's 250th birthday!
From May 28–June 1, 2026, New Orleans will be the first city to welcome the world’s tall ships as America marks 250 years, creating the largest flotilla ever on the Mississippi River.
If you have any photos or videos of any violations that took place, you're encouraged to email them to NOLACCMardiGrasReporting2026@gmail.com.

As y’all may recall, in 1st Mardi Gras video, I said we’re broke & enforcement was going to be spotty. Tried to remind people what about the rules and the Chads decided to Chad.
Once we’re out of the $RED this will pick up.
Sucks for #Parkways & #Sanitation though.

Standstill isn’t a time thing, it’s an element and/or breakdown issue. We’ll take a look after the parades to see where the slowdown was for the after action next month
So, let's talk about Mardi Gras. AGAIN.
From aggressive behavior to commercialized throws, I'm breaking down what the first weekend of Mardi Gras entailed, and what certain behaviors could mean for krewes further down the line.
As always, have a great Mardi Gras!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of The Ooze 35th Anniversary opens in theaters from March 13 - 19.
I’ve heard that, which is why we’re waiting on all the info before making determinations.
There is a lot of footage, NOPD accounts and bystanders stories to parse through.
I’d love to give a fuller hot take but being the Arbiter of Mardi Gras means I need to collect all the info first.
Riding in parades certainly is expensive but the City underwrites Mardi Gras (Police/Fire/EMS/Sanitation).
It is the responsibility of Krewe’s to make sure their riders aren’t assholes (drunken or otherwise) on our streets.
If they can’t, or won’t, address dangerous and shitty behavior we will.
I wasn’t there, so I’m collecting reports of people that were present.
We have a post mortem meeting after Mardi Gras (March) where we consider changes to the law and/or policy.
If the allegations are true (intentional injury NOPD & Bystanders with beads), the ordinances will need to be amended.
Catherine and I have been married for EIGHTEEN (18) YEARS! Our marriage has reached the age of majority and can vote while being drafted into military service!
Seriously, I’m incredibly grateful to be married to this wonderful and beautiful woman who makes every day the best-day-ever!
