There's a reason so many names of stars go back to the Arabic language, after all.

Probably not the best insomnia activity as I'll likely doze off before I finish and have bricks impaled somewhere in my body, but these guys are so cute.

So frustrating to see that a local store has something i want to buy in stock so I won't need to order it from a website - only to find an empty spot on the shelf and I wasted my time. ๐Ÿ˜

For years on my old blog I published the names of servicemembers who died in Iraq & Afghanistan. No other outlets were.

These are the first 4 Americans to die in the Iran War.
Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35
Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42
Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39
Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20

It's so dumb. Dubai is literally just across the straits of Hormuz from Iran. Sarah Palin could see it from her house!

Did they not check a map to see where Dubai ACTUALLY IS LOCATED? FFS.

The Children Speaking
from the Rubble

Tell us, what do the living do?
Do you dance? Do you make bread
with each other? Do you walk in the parks
in autumn, smelling the late summer flowers?
Is it true that some things get to grow old?
What is the world doing now? Are you fighting
with sticks and stones? Do you remember
us? Do you lie down under the stars
and listen to the birds passing overhead,
and do you get to feel the little wings of your own
wild heart be opened? You have somewhere
to go then, don't you? Go. Don't let us keep you.
We have names. We are safe. We're at school.
We are hiding in our favorite little places, waiting
for you to tap us on the shoulders, to tell us
it was just a joke, come home now,
and the bombs and boots are just a game we're playing,
and the bread and milk are waiting on the table,
and the moon is new, and the gardens are in blossom.
This sentence is the length of one of our shoes.

I wonder if it wasn't that war correspondents at that time kind of wandered on their own unaccompanied and could search out their own stories. By the time of "Stormin' Norman" Swartzkoff(sp) they were chaperoned around which, while safer, meant they only got positive stories + were less independent?

A titan of vaccine development sees his fieldโ€™s achievements slip away Stanley Plotkin, the 93-year-old "godfather of vaccines," is watching his fieldโ€™s achievements slip away.

Stanley Plotkin had a major hand in the development of a number of vaccines in use today; he designed the rubella vaccine. He remembers the world before widespread use of vaccines & knows what's coming as vaccine policy is rewritten & vaccine confidence is eroded. www.statnews.com/2026/03/02/s...

Biological Laboratory | LEGOยฎ Ideas This is a two-floor realistic Biological Laboratory building. In this design, I try to tell stories about biologists, introduce biology concepts to general publโ€ฆ

I just made an account and voted for this biology laboratory made of LEGO to "promote biological research and inspire more people into the world of biology". They need 10K votes. Reposting and/or voting below would be helpful. ๐Ÿค—

They couldn't even wait until the end of the Olympic truce. I wish it was possible to move both the World Cup and the summer Olympics.

I'm going to investigate a bit for sure, i know TurboTax works for me from previous experience but I'm going to look at other options in the next couple weeks. Fortunately the most complicated thing about my taxes is I have an additional small W2 from a part-time job.

I don't think so. And I despise accepting help anyway, especially from family. I'd rather do it myself or pay someone professional than accept help, I do not like that feeling of obligation one bit. Getting my own download is a separation that makes me feel more comfortable.

If they were younger I would, but since they are getting older I want to have the information on my own computer in case they suddenly pass away and I don't have access to their programs.

My parents used to do Turbo Tax so I'd just piggyback on their download. Now they use an accountant because it is more complicated, but still keep Turbo Tax for my brother to use. But it's time I got my own, I'm a grownup. ๐Ÿ˜„

I need to collect my documents and then find which service would be best to use. Time to be a grownup and not do my taxes on my parents computer anymore.

I know it is easy to doomscroll, especially today. Please plan for yourself at least one or many more offline activities. Buy a pastry, read a book, go to a museum, see a friend, cook a meal, play with a pet, or even a trip to Costco. Try to limit time on your phone and avoid stewing in anxiety.

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive
