In Dune, Paul and Reverend Mother Mohiam talk about the prohibition on thinking machines. The quote from the Orange Catholic Bible, “Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind” is tossed around a lot. I think what’s more important is *why* she tested Paul’s humanity to begin with:
