Pretty similar story
Yeah just money donated

Now that the 2023 NZ election is over, I looked at the relationship between donations and votes, and found an unexpected trend in who receives most of their money from large donations

Glad you liked it. Insurance affordability IS a problem (actually a pretty big one in Australia and one that's getting worse) but it's a symptom, not the real problem, which is risk. You have to solve the underlying problem, not just the symptom.
βThe solution is not to artificially provide that person with affordable insurance, itβs to actually make sure that people are living in safe areas, and in safe houses.β - my thoughts on insurance retreat in New Zealand

Noooo but this is a very interesting idea!
I regret to inform you that after being decimated by hayfever, I'm now pro climate change www.abc.net.au/news/2023-10...
It's official: 2023 will be Auckland's wettest year on record.
The previous record, 1979, saw 1487 mm of rain.
As of Wednesday, Auckland has now passed that level with more than two months still to go in the year.
Just thinking ahead to the next upcoming disaster and I think itβs time to start seriously and urgently questioning if thereβs a plan to support impacts from fires, drought, and the myriad health impacts from extreme heat in New Zealand.

Hard to say but a hard RI market is a big factor that is impacting insurance prices globally. It's also pretty easy for reinsurers to diversify away NZ catastrophe risk (compared to, say, Florida) so arguably we might be less impacted by the impact of natural disasters on RI than other countries
I think this is true for earthquake but not other perils like flood, where we are arguably a bit behind than other countries. And it's not just about understanding the risk for EQ, its's also about the impact of EQC offering cover to everyone at fairly affordable prices
