Now it’s my mom who keeps getting viruses or “ransomware” ads/popups. 😬
@feistykitty
I do 3D Printing, knitting, crafts of all kinds. Love cats. Black Lives Matter, Love is Love. Currently just selling 3D prints as a hobby side gig, and part-time caretaking for mom. Formerly Software Developer QA for iOS apps as my day job. (Not looking.)
Now it’s my mom who keeps getting viruses or “ransomware” ads/popups. 😬
A tabby cat named Leonard with white belly, socks and mittens, and a white blaze on his nose, lounging on his side in a very exposed position, with one front leg lying on top of his top side. He appears to be posing as if in what a human might see as a relaxed but “look at me and how attractive I am” way. Some might even refer to it as “sexy” but that would be weird because he’s a cat.
This is Leonard. He’s such a clown. “Tuxedo tabby” and his personality is totally that guy who shows up at a wedding in a tiger striped tux. 😹
Awesome! I’ve started printing some extremely tiny whistles that I was planning to hand out to some people locally who are involved and have connections, but if there’s a better way to get them to people/places where there is more need, that would be rad!
Thank you! Part of it was from the group experience I had just come from. It was a cathartic witchy gathering for a friend who needed support and affirmation and love and community. And I think most if not all of us left feeling empowered and just GLOWING. It was amazing.
For years I only wore jeans and t-shirts unless I felt like “dressing up”. I absolutely love wearing dresses now, most of the time! I’ve even started collecting “house dresses” to just wear at home because they’re comfy too!
Since the early days of the pandemic, I’ve spent a lot of time in schlumpy yoga pants or skirts and t-shirts. I’ve lost weight over the last couple years, and started wearing more dresses over the last year. Mostly very simple styles, but they fit well and look good. Feels great. 😸
Cis-fem here. I recently felt this. It was when I got home from an evening with amazing strong women. Looked in the mirror and said “damn, I look fucking hot right now.” Simple black dress, earrings, leggings, boots. Picture doesn’t quite get what I saw in mirror. I don’t selfie well 😹
Now I know the tech job situation is truly screwed. I “retired” from my Software Development Engineer in Test career (started manual QA, grew into writing automated tests in Swift) almost a year ago. Never was full iOS dev. I’m getting recruited for iOS Architect jobs. Recruiters need QA too, obvs.
I, too, am interested in ways I can help that don’t require physically doing things of which I am not capable. I feel helpless and guilty for not being able to do much.
And I already know about contacting my government representatives, I think that one’s a given at this point.
“We’re required to say something but we don’t really want to let you know what we’ve effed up this time. You get to be surprised.”
I’ll still sell my 3D printing stuff as long as that’s viable, but I do it more for fun and for making people happy. It’ll never be “income” worth noting. I don’t have the energy for that, even if it’s possible with the current market landscape. 🤷♀️
The longer I’m “retired” the more I realize just how conditioned I’ve been by society to focus my entire life on work and/or monetizing my time. It’s taken 8 months for me to finally let go of the idea that I must find ways to make money with my hobbies.
They just see “software engineer” and/or “automation” on my resume (wherever they found it). I wrote tests for iOS apps. I don’t have experience with web or performance testing. And even if I was looking, on-site only with a 2 hour commute each way is non-starter. 😝
Turns out it was two people from the same agency both calling and emailing at the same time.
I keep hearing that looking for jobs in tech is hard right now. Maybe it’s because the recruiters are wasting their time on people who aren’t even qualified or interested, instead of applicants?
I can’t just put my phone on do not disturb because I’m part-time caretaking for my mom, so I need to be able to get her calls, or calls about her.
Is there any kind of service that can locate all places where a resume exists on the internet and get them removed? I am so tired of rude recruiters. 4 calls within 4 mins (I sent it to VM each time) while I was trying to sleep. I’m RETIRED. I’ve tried, but they keep calling. 🤬
Oh and you have PETG now too 🥺 (yeah, it’s been a while since I’ve looked, you’ve probably had these for a while…)
I’ve been doing more with PETG because it’s more durable for small articulated prints for kids, and again struggling to find good colors. 💜💜💜
Side note, I generally default to Amazon for browsing, this is a good reminder to check the makers of the filament directly as they may have more on their own websites. Hard to remember with so many though 😬
I am so glad I logged in today and saw this. I’m starting to play with TPU and have been looking for good colors, particularly gradients!
The only thing I could ask for is a darker green that doesn’t have a lot of blue for a particular idea. But super stoked you have TPU!
Me in 20 years. 😹
Activity trackers should really have an easy toggle for “cat mode” - I have a sleeping/snuggling cat on me, don’t nag me to stand/move until deactivated.
I’ve seen other people saying they didn’t get any notification either, so idk if it was only some people got it or what.
I found a new mobile vet that was able to get us in next Monday, and their fees are way less than the other one anyhow. 🙄
TheVets got their full exam fee just in June, and did NOT give us a new Rx, but the last couple years of Molly’s records are just gone. The hassle to get her meds just adds insult to the injury of now having to pay another full exam fee and possibly traumatize the cat with a car trip. 4/4
We have an elderly cat who does NOT travel well and needs medication. We just had a full exam with lab work in June. No vet will prescribe her medication without seeing her.
I now have a week to find a mobile vet that can see her and get Rx, or haul her in if we can get appt at a normal vet. 2/3
Well, shit. If anyone has been using BetterVet or TheVets as mobile vet, be aware that 1) BetterVet merged with TheVets and then 2) TheVets (including everything related to BetterVet patients) SHUT DOWN with no communication to patients in July 2025. Website is still up. No indication. 1/3
Ugh. This is just making me feel more like I am on my way out of 3D printing. And the appearance of #FlexiFactory items in stores priced 25-75% lower than I would charge at a market and the fact that for the first time in 4 years I didn’t get a spot at my favorite holiday market… meh.
I’m picking up a “cardiac event monitor” this afternoon, as I’m experiencing some elevated heart rate issues (sort of POTS-like symptoms). I’ve been doing research on my own and decided to try some compression stuff. Not sure if it’s helping the heart stuff, but I love them anyhow. 😻 4/4
In other news, wearing (properly fitting) compression leggings and shirts is nearly as comforting as a weighted blanket. If I can just find the right shirts, I might even be able to try sleeping without the weighted blanket. 3/4
Compression clothing has specific characteristics and properties, often medical in nature. Having to weed through dozens of similar listings and ignore those that aren’t compression (even though they look identical) is frustrating af. I already returned one item because I wasn’t so diligent. 🙄 2/4
Dear Amazon (and others):
A search for clothing with the word “compression” indicates I want garments that have COMPRESSION. Not “athletic” not “active” not “wicking” (though those are all usually part of what people want with a compression garment). 1/4
