End-to-end model of the entire universe?
End-to-end model of the entire universe?
This would have been true about 15-20 years ago. Coffee and Tea culture has taken off in the U.S. Maybe not as mainstream as in other countries, but you can get high quality stuff in every larger city.
I am old enough to remember McCain singing Bomb Iran to the tune of Barbara Ann.
He said "zero illegal aliens were admitted". Illegals by definition are not admitted and you would not know their numbers.
Mayo is an amazing condiment and it can be modified in so many ways. Homemade mayo with adobo peppers and smoked paprika ... good stuff. Don't feel bad.
Up to about first two years of graduate school. Then just searched for terms for a while. Not even doing that anymore. I still was signed up for the emails for a long time after that.
The Streisand effect. Average view count for main guests are around 0.5-1 M for Colbert on youtube. This interview has already gained almost 4M.
Pilot should have put on a parachute and just jump out. Let them fly the plane. Relieving them of duty WHILE they are flying ...
And tossed weak babies off Mount Taygetos. Surely a culture they want to be associated with.
Bringing home the cheddar?
Do you still have goat watch?
I wonder how the state department is going to handle the influx of people trying to obtain a passport just to be able to vote. You know who has those? Immigrants and young (left leaning) people who like to travel. Young women are also more likely to have kept their last names after marriage.
You know who won't get Mumps or Measles? Immigrants.
We have to get booster shots as part of getting greencards.
LOL. Feel the same way. It really is up to us though. Maybe sneeze more! 🤣
The reason people do not post is quite simple: lack of interactions. When you posted on Twitter, before, expert colleagues and interested outsiders would all respond. Here, it is mostly crickets. If you want to build a better community, you have to partake. I try to respond to others when I can.
I think you are missing the point of these posts being public for public interest. Not a closed group discussion. We already have that.
Matt, I would have joined in posting about the talks! Should have started it. Also, conference organizers need to announce at the beginning that participants can post about the talks and what hashtags to use (not that those matter much anymore). We need to get Bsky to old Twitter levels.
Many astronomers standing next to open sided canvas tents in front of a white circular building in the middle of the Caltech campus. The sky is blue and the sun is shining.
(Settles in rocking chair, grumbling and muttering and rubbing a sore
knee joint) Last week we had the sixth installment of the Spirit of Lyot conference series hosted in Pasadena, focused on direct imaging of exoplanets and high contrast instrumentation. It was an excellent conference. /1
I've been reading a gazillion posts about the SB. And yet, not one about the game itself. I don't even know (or care, truth be told), who won.
We usually go to the Rapa River one. Lots of vendors and great prices.
Add a data release number and then it is easier ...
Then again, I am one of those weirdos who actually like common core math as well. It teaches math exactly the same way as I do simple arithmetic in my head.
My daughter's school emphasizes very frequently how amazing it is that they still teach cursive in her school and that it is not common now in most public schools.
Sorry to hear about the struggles. I don't think kids should be graded or critiqued on the penmanship, but I still believe it should be taught. Students don't know how to take notes now in classes. Writing a lot by hand and learning cursive I believe to be an important stepping stone on the path.
Why? They teach it at my kid's elementary school and I think it is fantastic. It exercises a completely different part of the brain.
The kids are alright.
This is exactly what's going to happen!
Thank goodness for Bsky.
