“In the last year, it’s gotten a lot worse” A Qualitative Investigation of Barriers to Disability Benefits in 2025 - DREDF
This report is based on interviews with 52 benefits professionals serving over 8,000 disability claimants nationwide. The independent research finds that recent Social Security Administration administrative changes have produced widespread access barriers, including longer delays, increased errors, reduced access to human assistance, and disproportionate harm to people with unstable housing, limited internet access, and cognitive or psychiatric disabilities.
NEW: Independent research finds SSA changes in 2025 are creating widespread barriers to disability benefits: long delays, more denials, reduced access to support.
Advocates report worsening health, homelessness, and even deaths while waiting.

LA has 'no such authority' to roll out new RV removal program under state law, judge says
The judge ruled the new law that went into effect in January gives that authority to the county — not the city.
A court has ruled LA cannot unlawfully expand RV seizures and destruction.
This protects thousands of unhoused Angelenos who rely on RVs as their only home.
