"Official recognition is valuable because the shaka is so culturally resonant, so much a part of this place. The gesture is a source of origin stories, family stories, and a way to talk about life in Hawaii." #shaka #hawaii
Google Maps: Your photo reached 4,400,000 views! A photo of "Rise and Shine Cafe" in Mililani, Honolulu, Hawaii.
TFW your best-performing photo is a a suburban strip mall storefront. (It is a good restaurant, though.) #google #googlemaps

Oh! The different algorithms! That stuff is beyond me. You can make feeds that weigh and present posts that match certain criteriaβstuff from people with more followers than follows, stuff with 100+ likes, etcetera. Perhaps use a "local area" Feed (algorithm) to filter posts from near you?
I'm fond of Threads, and if I want niche quirky content there's always Mastodon!
I don't understand the question. Bluesky doesn't support lists or hashtags so it's not easy to follow topics or find specific communities without straight searches each session. I think Bluesky has fallen too far behind to be anything but niche.
Good people, all! Also, people are using Bluesky, I guess!

All thanks go to you!
When I can't sleep, I launch projects. (I've not been sleeping much lately, obviously!) I've been mulling the land acknowledgement practice for a while, and feel it should be more common in Hawaii. It's a niche cause, for sure, but at least there's a website now!

"You have received a virtual gift for your 23 anniversary in LiveJournal. On this day, in 2000, you have registered in LiveJournal."
My LiveJournal account is older than most of my kids.
A private dining room at The Pacific Club in Honolulu, where the December 2023 meeting of Hawaii Angels was held.
I am about $1,028,000 short of the net worth needed to be an accredited investor, but the Hawaii Angels group was kind enough to invite me to sit in on the last meeting of 2023. First of all, it was great to be in a room full of some of the most interesting people in Hawaii.

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, I can start listening to Sia's Christmas album again. It's like a holiday clip art collection set to music, fun and weird, and I'm here for it. open.spotify.com/album/2vcGYJ...
