Today I want to talk about Jess’ Rule and Martha’s Rule, two new initiatives across NHS England that I think are really important and you should know about.
Tl;dr: if your symptoms are not improving or getting worse, at home or in hospital, you have the right and Drs the responsibility to review.

Any centre left governing coalition is now:
- Young people, especially graduates
- Urban progressives
- Minority groups
- Working age people with low incomes
- Educated Professionals

If both your political and economic strategy is not geared towards these groups, they will find a party that is.

UK launches operation to support thousands of Britons in Middle East Officials are understood to be working on plans to evacuate British nationals, should airspace remain closed.

What's happening in Dubai bolsters the argument taxes should be based on people's nationality, not just their country of residence (ie the US model).

If Brits living abroad can expect to be airlifted out by virtue of being British, they should pay some tax towards that.

Is "deliverism" dead? Lawrence gave his first take on Iran at the weekend and will return to it later this week.

What is "deliverism"? Is it dead? And what would its death mean for progressive politics?

This essay (kindly published by @samfr.bsky.social) is my attempt to trace five years of trans-Atlantic debates, to set out what I see as the stakes, and to analyse where these arguments have now gotten to:

Indeed - a very odd piece. Labour unquestionably running one of the most pro-Net Zero governments in Europe. Also, the renewable energy developers I speak to often in my day job almost invariably think the UK currently has the best green investment environment in Europe, too.

In shocking news Matt blames muslims for his defeat and would like you to pay him money so that he can keep pointing this out.

It's all 'leave the EU to rebuild our Commonwealth ties' when there's a referendum on, but a different tune when it comes to Commonwealth citizens exercising their 112-year old right to vote in a parliamentary by-election.

Gorton and Denton is a taste of what is to come – but that could mean two very different things Until yesterday La

Which way, British man (woman, person)?

Me on Gorton and Denton for SEC Newgate News. As we look ahead to the next general election, the two most realistic outcomes are currently a hard right shift - or a Labour led patchwork of progressive parties.

The strategy of Polanski's Greens has been very clear on this for some time.

A Green win must mean that "left behind" voters forgotten by Westminster want open borders and legalised class A drugs. That's how it works right?

Undoing the sexual revolution, repealing the Renters’ Rights Act…literally every day these guys add a new liability to the pile.

Yes, I've been wondering if this might be one of the biggest threats to Reform's polling. They've got to 30% by channelling inchoate rage at the system - but all their policy preferences are Thatcherite boomer comfort zone stuff. There's a risk of a dividing line against part of their own coalition.

While it’s not fair to draw an equivalence of the Greens with Reform here (what Goodwin has said re penalising women who choose not to have children is still much worse) between the two of them this by-election is starting to make me feel a bit Mash Report.

Going back to what I was saying about Farage completely losing his political judgment recently. Why in gods name would you announce all this before a crucial by-election in a working class northern seat?

So, just to make sure I understand: Jenrick is saying Reform would restore the two child benefit cap. Goodwin is saying women who do not have enough children will be penalised.

Cool.

@colmpm.bsky.social called it four months ago. Recent disturbing revelations aside, the Mandelson appointment was a ticking time bomb from the beginning - both for the government and McSweeney himself.

Morgan McSweeney gone. Will be genuinely fascinating to see who replaces him.

Of course, the bigger question is whether this will be the final push in getting me to reactivate my ancient teenage Tumblr account at the advanced age of 30. More as we get it.

Imo they’ll have to massively condense the first two (or at least 1.5) Stormlight books to make a pacy, watchable season - which is probably doable but would definitely result in a lot of fan debate.

On almost everything – fraud, polarisation, radicalisation, misinformation – evidence suggests that over 60s are in much more urgent need of online protection and education than teenagers.

But that issue gets zero political attention, and is a total non-starter. Nothing good will come of it.

The Carney speech is v good.
More generally, I think it’s important that the UK & EU recognise that this is a new world. And waiting for the mid-terms or 2028 and things to get back to ‘normal’ isn’t good enough.
Need to build the capacity & resilience to be less reliant on the US for security.
